Not only are they capable of damaging multiple enemies with each shot, but enemies that are hit are usually forced backward by the concussive force of the blast. Further, a point-blank and accurate hit will drop most enemies with a single shell. Shotguns have two big weaknesses, though. The fi rst is their limited range. The buckshot expelled from the muzzle spreads quickly and therefore does considerably less damage the farther it travels. The second weakness is the relatively slow reload time when compared to other weapons. Get caught reloading in the middle of a battle and you’re sure to take damage.

The run-of-the mill Zombies encountered on board the train are slow-moving and purely melee attackers. At range, use your pistol to conserve ammo, and aim for the top of the head to score critical hits. Quickly switch to the shotgun once they get close.

2 First Encounter: Leech Infected Leeches have turned the train’s passengers into the walking dead. Pick them off with a single pistol round or simply wait until they attach themselves to your face and then cut them off with a swing of the knife. Wait too long, though, and they’ll infl ict damage.

5 First Encounter: Cerberus

The Cerberus creatures were created by Umbrella through the fusing of the T-virus to Doberman DNA. They are the fastest enemy you’ve faced thus far, and once they get close enough they’ll leap up and bite you. A handgun will suffi ce one-on-one, but if they attack in packs, a shotgun is man’s best friend. primagames.com

In tight quarters, it’s always best to have a heavy-hitting weapon equipped, just in case an enemy sneaks up on you. 6 Action!

Cutscenes in the middle of levels generally signal an action sequence, and the one here is no different. Be prepared to dodge a giant claw by performing the action shown on the screen.

41 Boss Battle: Stinger

Stinger is a bio-organic weapon of obvious origin. The exo-skeleton armor repels most small-arms fi re, but it does have its weak spots. Aim for the head and the tip of the tail to infl ict the most amount of damage.

The shotgun’s power is ideal against Stinger, but don’t waste ammo when the tail is down and the head is hidden behind the beast’s huge claws. Instead, use this time to pick up the items scattered around the room. Stinger’s attacks are avoidable, provided you are quick enough with the controller! Be prepared to perform multiple dodges during the long battle.

ThisTHE section provides FILE a recap of theROOM events surrounding the infection and the crash of the Ecliptic Express, the destruction of the Umbrella Management Training Facility, the destruction of the Arklay Research Facility (the mansion), and the viral outbreak in and subsequent annihilation of Raccoon City. Resident Evil 0 SummaryBACKGROUND Resident Evil 0 Digest 1 Bizarre murder cases with people being found dead, their bodies half- eaten, were being reported in the areas near Raccoon City. The city’s elite special forces unit, S.T.A.R.S. (Special Tactics and Rescue Service), sent Bravo Team to the scene. However, due to a mysterious engine failure, Bravo Team’s helicopter crash- landed in the forest. Bravo Team narrowly escaped with their lives and stumbled onto a heavily damaged prison convoy and the brutally dismembered corpses of the Marines in charge. Enrico Marini, Bravo Team’s commander, ordered that a search be made for Billy Coen, a former Marine who escaped from the convoy. The newest member of Bravo Team, Rebecca Chambers, discovered a train stopped in the woods and went inside to investigate. Apparently the train had met with some kind of accident—she found all of the passengers dead. One of the supposedly dead passengers came to life and attacked Rebecca. Facing certain death, Rebecca was rescued by the prisoner, Billy Coen. Rebecca was still suspicious of Billy but realized that they needed to work together if they wanted to survive the nightmare. Shortly after, the train suddenly started to move. It accelerated and was rapidly approaching dangerous speeds. To prevent the imminent derailment, the pair engaged the brake. However, it was too late and the train rolled on its side. The two barely managed to escape the wreck. Nearby was Umbrella’s Management Training Facility.
