The author assumed the reader has a certain familiarity with narrative nonfiction radio, and she used examples from shows that have aired. Abel spent two years conducting interviews and shadowing behind-the-scenes events with the producers of This American Life, The Moth, Radiolab, Planet Money, Snap Judgment, Serial, Invisibilia, and other narrative radio shows. That took a while to get used to and at first I wasn't sure it needed the graphics or even worked in that format, but I quickly changed my mind. Get used to maintaining forward momentum.
