Children from Friendship Baptist Church raised nearly $12,000 this year during VBS to help children around the world. The Friendship kids selected to support the ministries of Mark and Sue Schladenhauffen (South Africa) and Glenn and Sheri McGhee (Ecuador) with the special offering. “This is an exciting annual event for the children who will save and work all year to bring money for the missionaries,” says Pastor Linzy Slayden.

NN Fellowship EE WNewsW SS Bible Baptist celebrates 55th anniversary Savannah, GA

On September 20, Pastor Herb Hub- bard along with members and friends of Bible Baptist Church celebrated the church’s 55th anniversary. Elmer Towns, from Liberty University, was the special speaker for the day. Towns reminisced about his days in Savannah and his relationship with the church through the years. He challenged the congregation to view the first 55 years as the prelude to greater things and to continue their endeavors to reach the city of Savannah and surrounding area with the gospel of Jesus Christ. A presentation of the church’s his- tory was made to the congregation, picturing its humble beginnings to the present day. Special recognition was given to Cecil Hodges, who pastored the church for 40 years, and his wife, Kitty. A portrait of the couple, which will hang in the church foyer, was pre- sented to their daughter, Margie, and her husband, Herman Mongin, since the Hodges were unable to attend due to health issues. Hubbard, who has pastored Bible Baptist for the last 15 years, conclud- ed the service with thanksgiving to the Lord for the work He has accom- plished through Bible Baptist and to the congregation for being willing to be used of God to accomplish His work in Savannah. Bible Baptist’s ministry includes a Christian school, daycare center, crisis pregnancy center, family counseling center, and Lighted Pathway (a min- istry for physically and mentally chal- lenged adults). The church regularly supports over 100 missionaries and mission organizations. “During the past 55 years, literally thousands have found life in Jesus Christ as a result of Bible Baptist’s various ministries,” says Alan Tanner, the church’s business adminis- trator. “Through these same ministries, members and guests are now experienc- ing abundant life in Christ.”
