Lyall McCarthy Pathway Head Coach Lyall McCarthy is Rowing Australia's Pathways Head Coach. Lyall has worked at the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) and Rowing Australia since 1997 and has coached on the Australian Senior Team 20 times winning 18 medals including Kim Brennan to Olympic gold in the Women’s Single Sculls at the 2016 Rio . Lyall’s role sees the highly successful rowing coach focus his attention on Australia’s talent pathway and growing Australia future elite coaches and rowers to learn how to row and train to win.

Noel Donaldson VIS/ Victorian Performanc Pathway (VPP) Rowing Head Coach With 30 years of experience Noel is a successful world-class rowing coach at state, national and International levels. Noel is best known as the architect of the world conquering ‘Oarsome Foursome’, with three World Championships (1990, 1991, 1998) and back-to-back Olympic gold medals (1992, 1996). In September 2004, Noel was appointed the High Performance Director of Rowing Australia and led the rowing team towards the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He was also the Australian Rowing Team Men’s Head Coach for the 2004 Athens Olympics, guiding the squad to one gold, one silver and one bronze medal. In 2013 Noel accepted the position as Lead Coach for Men’s Sweep with Rowing New Zealand and worked with the highly successful Men’s Pair of and . He resigned from his role at Rowing New Zealand in March 2019 and is now responsible for the strategic, operational and technical leadership of the VIS Rowing Pathways Program. KEY PRESENTERS

Rhett Ayliffe WAIS Head Rowing Coach Rhett Ayliffe has coached multiple Olympic crews over the years with the best result of a gold medal in the Beijing Men’s Double Scull. Rhett started his coaching career in 2000 at Wesley College as the director of Rowing. In 2003 Rhett coached the U23 light weight Men's four, winning gold and the light weight Men's pair, winning silver. After this accomplishment, Rhett became WAIS Development Coach in 2003. Two years later, Rhett become Head Coach at the TIS. After coaching in Tasmania for three years, Rhett became Senior Coach at the AIS which then lead to him being the category lead for between both men’s & women’s programs. He is now the WAIS Rowing Head Coach responsible for WAIS scholarship holders & technical lead of the WA pathway system.

Mark Beer Current SRRC Head Coach Mark has had a long career as a highly performing coach. He began at Mosman Rowing Club in where he assisted Nick Garratt (a former captain of the SRRC). In 2007 Mark made the move to England where he was the Head Coach of two school rowing programs (Jesus College 07-'10 and King's School Ely '15-'18). Most notably Mark was also the Assistant Coach for Cambridge University Boat Club and took on the lead coaching duties of the "Goldie" crew in the months leading up to . Ken Davey Decent Rowing Ken has coached rowers of all ages from under 13 upwards, including U19 and U23 Australian Teams and winning a World Championship. Ken is involved with his son Lachlan in the operation of Decent Rowing and through this is hoping to improve the sport through enhancing education of both coaches and athletes.
