Tal Brochure Black and Gold.Pdf Black on the outside Gold on the inside TAL ABOUT US “Black on the outside and gold on the inside, a mystifying lighting concept that will forever remain in style.” In the beginning there was black. At Interieur 2006, the leading biennial design event in Belgium, TAL laboratories added a touch of gold to a deep black lighting element called DART. The wall-mounted luminaire radiated with an inner golden glow and immersed every interior in a classy and stylish visual splendor. TAL-adepts started making suggestions to transform other lighting fixtures into the blackest gold ever seen. And so, TAL laboratories carried out more experiments resulting in a never before seen collection of lighting elements designed to bathe your interior in a warm and intimate glow. For exactly eleven years now, TAL has maintained its Black+Gold collection and with each new product, a version in black and gold was developed. The black housing of the products contrasts beautifully to their warm, golden interior. At Euroluce 2017, the international lighting exhibition in Milan, TAL will once again proudly present this trendsetting Black+Gold collection. This time, it will be alternated with lighting fixtures that completely bathe in gold. For example, a version of the BERRIER in 24-carat gold will be presented. TAL’s newest addition to the Black+Gold collection will be the DIABOLO, designed by Lieven Musschoot & Cas Moor. Throughout the range, you will discover attractive fixtures reminiscent of thirties style, of jazz clubs and of royal interiors. With its unique character, the Black+Gold series offers that extra added aesthetic value to both classical and contemporary interiors. This suspended luminaire is part of the DALSGAARD collection; the upper part is made of undulating black oak wood, the lamp housing is executed in magnificent gold. KALEBAS is the ideal lighting fixture for housing LED-lamps with an E27 base as only the light-emitting part is visible and the technical components of the lamp remain hidden behind the housing. 10 BLACK+GOLD LUZIEN DESIGN BY TAL LABORATORIES Industrial cosiness LUZIEN is an ode to industrial design. The perfectly balanced proportions and the rich radiance of the warm light flowing over the golden inside of the luminaire turn LUZIEN into an attractive suspended luminaire with a sophisticated vintage look. 12 The shape of these suspended luminaires is based on the typical roofs of Saint Basil’s Cathedral on the Red Square in Moscow. Borresen: At Uranienborg Cage: Atlas Eclipticalis Glass: Orion Connections between astronomy and music have been proposed since the time of the ancient Greeks. This annotated listing of both classical and popular music inspired by astronomy restricts itself to music that has connections to real science -- not just an astronomical term or two in the title or lyrics. For example, we do not list Gustav Holst’s popular symphonic suite The Planets, because it draws its inspiration from the astrological, and not astronomical, characteristics of the worlds in the solar system. Similarly, songs like Soundgarden’s “Black Hole Sun” or the Beatles’ “Across the Universe” just don’t contain enough serious astronomy to make it into our guide. When possible, we give links to a CD and a YouTube recording or explanation for each piece. The music is arranged in categories by astronomical topic, from asteroids to Venus. • Justine Skye
JUSTINE SKYE In an age where influence and reach is determined by the amount of followers one has on social media, Justine Skye effortlessly dominates the competition. The R&B singer-songwriter rose to notoriety simply by being herself and letting her undeniable vocal ability shine. In 2010, Justine covered Drake's "Headlines" and racked up nearly two million You Tube views purely from word of mouth. Since then, Justine's popularity has only grown with over 40,000 followers on both Tumblr and Instagram respectively. But if you ask the violet curly-haired chanteuse how she and her group of eclectic and creative friends continue to stand out and keep people's attention, she'll tell you its all organic. "We're just being ourselves, living our lives and putting our pictures on the Internet. I think what people like most about me is that I keep it real. I'm just real with you." Justine was 8 years old when her grandfather, Assemblyman N. Nick Perry of the 58th Assembly District in Brooklyn, New York realized she had a gift. Justine accompanied Perry to political events where she would often sing the National Anthem and the Black National Anthem. However, Justine was still nervous about her talent. "I always knew I could sing, I just didn't think I was that great because of all the other singers out there. In my mind, I was like 'I'm just a girl from Brooklyn.' " Justine soon left her insecurities at the door. In 2010 she attended a BMI music panel with her mother, entertainment lawyer, Nova Perry, who has represented everyone from Eightball & MJG, Lloyd, Machine Gun Kelly and Eric Hudson.

  • Rock Around the Clock” Started out As a Highly‐Underrated Pop Song; It Wound up Being a Snapshot of Teenage Life in the Mid‐1950’S
1, 2, 3 O’Clock, 4 O’Clock, Rock… “Rock Around the Clock” started out as a highly‐underrated pop song; it wound up being a snapshot of teenage life in the mid‐1950’s. Written at some point in late 1952, the song almost went nowhere…twice. In winter 1953, songwriter Max Freedman had the song transcribed for the purpose of publishing the music. He sold co‐authorship of the song to James Myers (Jimmy DeKnight) in exchange for publishing the song and, one presumes, for seeking an artist to record it. Freedman died in 1962, and Myers’ story after that varied, but we know that after registering the copyright for the song, James Myers approached Bill Haley about recording it. “And what? Haley didn’t like it?” Quite the opposite: Bill Haley wanted to record it right away. By this time Haley was having a regional hit with “Crazy, Man, Crazy,” and was looking for new material to take his band to the top. According to members of the Comets, the group tested the popularity of the song by introducing it to live audiences. Apparently the first audience to hear “Rock Around the Clock” by Bill Haley and his Comets was at the Hofbrau Hotel in Wildwood, NJ, in July, 1953. Although the crowds liked it, Haley’s producer did not. Dave Miller refused to record “Rock Around the Clock” for Essex Records – apparently because Miller and Myers were not on friendly terms. Myers’ business partner, Jack Howard, pitched the song to Paschall Salvatore Vennitti (better known as Sonny Dae).
