Ministry of Sound Orchestrated MINISTRY OF SOUND ORCHESTRATED THE CELEBRATION OF CLASSIC DANCE ANTHEMS PERFORMED WITH A LIVE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA RETURNS FOR BIGGEST AUSTRALIAN TOUR TO DATE FEATURING SAM SPARRO (AUS/USA), CRYSTAL WATERS (US) & ALISON LIMERICK (UK). Frontier Touring & Soapbox Events are thrilled to announce that Ministry of Sound’s Orchestrated will return this December with ‘The Strings Of Life Tour’, following the overwhelming success of the event’s first two Australian tours. Joining some of Australia’s finest orchestras for this concert series will be guest vocalists Sam Sparro, Crystal Waters and Alison Limerick performing Orchestrated’s biggest shows to date. As a celebration of the most beloved dancefloor moments of the past 25 years, Orchestrated rearranges, remixes and reimagines classic tracks with a live symphony orchestra and special guest vocalists for a night of pure celebration. Featuring classic dance hits from the likes of Fatboy Slim, Moby, Eric Prydz and Robert Miles, Orchestrated is guaranteed to provide an unforgettable evening. This December’s tour will be the most extensive run of Orchestrated shows to date, with debut shows in Gold Coast and Hobart joining return performances in even bigger venues in Melbourne, Sydney and Perth. Orchestrated celebrated its sold-out debut last August with a by-demand encore season that included a sold-out show at the prestigious Sydney Opera House. Musical director Adam Sofo and creative director Groove Terminator will return for all Australian shows; acclaimed conductor Guy Noble returns for Orchestrated in Gold Coast, Hobart and Melbourne while a special new addition Vanessa Skammel will conduct in Sydney and Perth. Grammy and ARIA Award nominated singer, songwriter and producer, Sam Sparro – the unique voice behind the multi-platinum single ‘Black and Gold’ – will also be joining the tour as a guest vocalist. Sparro has collaborated with the likes of Mark Ronson, Kylie Minogue, Aluna George, Basement Jaxx, Nile Rodgers, Adam Lambert and Honey Dijon, amongst others and recently wrapped up a hugely successful national tour. Alison Limerick returns to Orchestrated this December following a standout performance earlier this year at the Sydney Opera House. Limerick released debut album And Still I Rise in March 1992, that same year she won Best Female Artist at the international DMC Awards and has continued to release a string of hit singles including ‘Time Of Our Lives’ and ‘Where Love Lives’, the latter of which went on to become a 90s phenomenon and global anthem. Limerick continues to record and sing live and can be found singing soul/jazz in various venues across Europe. Her latest collaboration, the track ‘Bye Bye’ with New York DJ Lenny Fontana is out now and includes the recent Phats & Small remix. Best known for 1991’s ‘Gypsy Woman (She’s Homeless)’ and 1994’s ‘100% Pure Love’, Crystal Waters makes for an exciting addition to the line-up. Her accolades include three American Music Award nominations, an MTV Video Music Award nod, four Billboard Music Awards and six ASCAP Songwriter Awards. Joining the Hobart show will be legendary house music DJ John Course (DJ set) and in Perth, West Australian DJ/producer Dr Packer (DJ set). In what will be a nostalgic throwback to some of the greatest party anthems of all time, Orchestrated is sure to generate some serious foot movement bringing friends together to relive the heady days of clubbing in a true celebration of dance music, truly a night to remember from start to end as it makes its way across the country. Having played the instru- ment for, then, almost two decades, I thought that a novelist would not, could not, feature specialty instruments such as the C-melody sax if he did not play the horn himself. House musicians added synthesizer bass lines, electronic drums, electronic effects, samples from funk and pop, and vocals using reverb and delay. They balanced live instruments and singing with electronics. Like Disco, House music was “inclusive” (both socially and musically), infuenced by synthpop, rock, reggae, new wave, punk and industrial. Music made for dancing. It was not initially aimed at commercial success. The Warehouse Discotheque that opened in 1977 The Warehouse was the place to be in Chicago’s late-’70s nightlife scene. An old three-story warehouse in Chicago’s west-loop industrial area meant for only 500 patrons, the Warehouse often had over 2000 people crammed into its dark dance foor trying to hear DJ Frankie Knuckles’ magic. In 1982, management at the Warehouse doubled the admission, driving away the original crowd, as well as Knuckles. Frankie Knuckles and The Warehouse "The Godfather of House Music" Grew up in the South Bronx and worked together with his friend Larry Levan in NYC before moving to Chicago. Main DJ at “The Warehouse” until 1982 In the early 80’s, as disco was fading, he started mixing disco records with a drum machines and spacey, drawn out lines.
