Life Members Scout Group

Syed Hasan Haider Noqvi is the prime founder of the group. He noticed that children have a little opportunity for enjoyment. He believed that to build a good citizen is the ultimate solution. So, he motivated guardians in order to lead young people in a disciplined way and started the group as State Bank of Pakistan Colony Scout Group in 1961 which later known as bank colony scout group, now passing its glorious 52 years. Mr. Noqvi is the 1st group scout master. Due to his contribution for the group,

Bangladesh bank colony scout group honored him as a Life Member of the group in 14th May 1962.

A.B.M. Shamsul Haq is one of the founder member of Bangladesh Bank Colony Scout Group. He was scout and rover in his student life. After that, as an employee of State Bank of Pakistan, he had closed relationship with another founder member Mr.Syed Hasan Haider Noqvi and made his active contribution to form the scout group. They formed State Bank of Pakistan Colony Scout Group, Agrabad, with collaboration of residents of Bank colony and officials of the then State Bank of Pakistan, Chittagong who offered their mental, physical and financial support to the new scout group . Bangladesh Bank Colony Scout Group honored him as a Life Member of the group in 14th May 1962 due to his contribution to the group.

A.O.M.Shamsuddoha was attached with Bank Colony Scout Group from its establishment in 1961 when he was administrative officer of the then State Bank of Pakistan, Chittagong. He became ex-officio President o f the group twice in 1972 and 1976-78 as Manager of Bangladesh Bank, Chittagong. At those time he was very much convinced to the values of Law and Promise of scout movement. He felt for a Den for the group and contributed his best efforts for building the Den of the group in his time. Bangladesh Bank Colony Scout Group, Chittagong was pleased to award him as Life Member of the group from 2nd November in 1973 for his extra ordinary contribution to the scout movement as well as scout group.

M.A.Mazed was deputy collector of customs, Chittagong. He contributed to Bangladesh Bank Colony Scout Group financially when group was insolvent. During construction of scout den he financially assisted the group. He donated band set for group activity. He is one of the vice Chairman of the group.. As recognition of his devotion to Bangladesh Bank Colony Scout Group the executive committee was pleased to award him Life Member of the group from 22nd February,1973.

Md. Amirul Islam was engaged himself with scout group as a member of executive committee as well as a guardian of scout. He was treasurer of the group for long time and rendered his service brilliantly. When there was no scout den one room of his residence was given to use as den. During construction of scout den he also rendered his services. For publication of Lushai, the yearly magazine of Bank colony scout group from 1 st to 8 th edition, he managed notable amount through collection of advertisement, donation etc. The executive committee of the group offered him Life membership from 22nd February,1973.

Fai z Ahm ad FCA was one of the good guardian and well wisher of Bank Colony Scout Group, Chittagong. He was firstly a guardian of the group and became executive committee member afterwards. During financial hardship of the group he gave the group financial assistance and sometimes helped in kinds from his own sources as well as from M/s.Showales Bangladesh Ltd. where he was Managing Director. He was vice President of the executive committee of the group from 1984 to1989. Due to his devotion and sincere efforts for scout group as well as to the scout movement executive commiittee of. Bangladesh Bank Colony Scout Group, Chittagong offered him Life Membership from 22nd February,1975.

S.A.Sardar was one of the good guardians of the group. He elected executive member of the group in 1975. During the period of his attachment to the group he helped financially.He donated Harmonium and Tabla for use in group activities. The executive committee decided to award Life Membership to him for long and tremendous service to the scout movement as well as to Bangladesh Bank Colony Scout Group, Chittagong from 22 nd February,1977.

Md.Khurshid -ul -Alam was Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank. From 9th September,1994 to 3 rd July,1997 he was General Manager of Bangladesh Bank, Chittagong. By virtue of his post he was ex-officio President of scout group. During his tenure he thought that scouts are to be good citizens of the country. They should be well educated , socially and culturally developed. As such he founded a library in the scout den and .arranged to purchase good number of books. When he was Managing Director of the Security printing Corporation of Bangladesh Ltd. arranged two tents for use in group’s annual camps and other scout activities. Executive committee on its meeting held on 23 rd May, 1998 decided to honor him with Life Membership, considering his great devotion to scout movement and scout group.

Dr. Md. Farashuddin was Governor , Bangladesh Bank. from 24.11.1998 to 22.11.2001. As such was an ex-officio Chief Patron of Bangladesh Bank Colony Scout Group, Chittagong. During his tenure he visited Bank colony scout group and was very much pleased to see various performance of cub, scout and rovers in grand camp fire. The divesting condition of scout den socked him. He advised the group committee President to apply for a specil grant to bank authority for repairing the den . Lateron he managed a special grant of tk.5.00 lac for renovation of scout den from Bangladesh Bank.. He was scout in his student life and was Deputy National Commissioner of Bangladesh Scouts. Executive committee of the scout group decided to honor him “Life Member” for his utmost sincerity and devotion to the scout movement from 20 th June,2001.

Kazi Anowarul Mahbub was Executive Director, Bangladesh Bank, Chittagong for two times. He was the president of Bank colony scout group twice. He always tried his best for the betterment of the group, development and also expansion of scout movement. Due to .his sincere efforts Dr.Farashuddin Ahmed, Governor, Bangladesh Bank agreed to pay visit to scout den in 2003.The exective committee of Bangladesh Bank Colony Scout Group decided to give Mr. Mahbub Life Membership due to great devotion and noble deeds towards Bank colony scout group from 20 th June,2001. He is also a life member of Bangladesh Scouts.

Md.Nazrul Huda was Deputy Governor , Bangladesh Bank. During his stay in Bangladeh Bank, Chittagong as executive director he was also President of Bangladesh Bank Colony Scout Group from 20.6.1999 to 17.8.2000. He donated a good number of books for scout group library. He was very much convinced by the values of scout Law & Promise. Mr.Huda recommended Banglades h Bank authority for a special grant of Tk. 5.00 lac for finishing renovation work of scout Den. Due to his heart felt feelings and co-operation to Bangladesh Bak Colony Scout Group the executive committee was pleased to offer him Life Membership on 7 th March,2003. Md.Rabiul Islam was executive director , Bangladesh Bank. He was the President of Bangladesh Bank Colony Scout Group, Agrabad, Chittagong from 03 March,1998 to 01 June, 1999 due to his posting in Bangladesh Bank, Chittagong.. He arranged a huge collection of Books and journals for library and attended various scout programe of National, Regional, District scouts. In 1998 when almost all the district of Bangladesh had inundated through flood he actively participated in relief work with members of the group to help the distressed people. He was very much dearly to cub, scout, rovers and scout leaders of the group. During his tenure on 14 th April,1999 he introduced Girls in Scouting cub section in the group. Through his heartiest efforts 9 th edition of yearly magazine “Lushai” was published successfully.To memories his noble deeds to the group executive committee offered him the Life Membership from 7 th March, 2003.

Dr. Fakhruddin Ahmad, Governor , Bangladesh Bank was chief patron of Bangladesh Bank Colony Scout Group, Chittagong. He visited Scout Den on 19.02.2003. A grand gala reception accorded to him followed by guard of honor by combined cubs, scouts, girls in cub, and rovers of the group. A grand campfire (Cultural programe) was also arranged in scout Ramna. Viewing the performance of scouts he was so impressed and stayed 2.30 hours in lieu of 0.30 hour as the programe was approved by him earlier. He inaugurated newly constructed scout Den and granted further amount of Tk.4.00 lac to finish its incomplete works. Executive committee on its meeting on 23 rd May, 1978 honored him with Life Membership. from 7 th June,2003 considering his great feelings and endeuvour towards scout group and scout movement.

Nazmul Hasan was Executive Director , Bangladesh Bank and when poated in Chittagong office was ex-officio President of Bangladesh Bank Colony Scout Group, Chittagong. He was scout in his student life as such he was very much convinced to the values of scout Law and Promise. When he was attached with Human Resource Department of Bangladesh Bank, Head Office he tried his best in obtaining Bank authority’s permission for a veteran scouter of Bangladesh Bank Colony Scout Group, Chittagong to attend 2 nd World Islamic Scout jamboree in Libiya held in 1983. Due to his heart felt feelings and co-operation to Bangladesh Bank Colony Scout Group, the executive committee was pleased to offer him Life Membership on 7th June,2003.

Ansaruddin Ahmed was General Manager Bnagladesh Bank and later he was the Managing Director, National Housing & Investment Ltd. When he was Deputy General Manager, Bangladesh Bank, Chittagong he came in touch with Bank Colony Scout Group in 1991. He always tried to attend scout programe of Bank colony Scout Group and encouraged scouts and scout leaders. He arranged a color television and 66 folding chairs and cooking utensils for scout group. He is a freedom fighter of liberation war of Bangladesh. Due to his great feelings for welfare and development of Bangladesh Bank Colony Scout Group, Chittagong the managing committee decided to offer Life Membership to him on 01 November,2003.Mr. Ahmed when posted in Pubali Bank Ltd as Deputy Managing Director was very kind enough to arrange two tents for scout group from the Pubali Bank authority.

Alhaj Md. Saifur Rahman, Vice President, , Bangladesh Scout Railway District, Chittagong engaged himself from his very boyhood in scout movement. when he was a student of Chittagong collegiate High School, Chittagong in 1948. He is a leader trainer and was member of national executive committee of Bangladesh Scouts. He was offered highest national award “Silver Tiger” of Bangladesh Scouts in 1993. He is cooperative to Bank Colony Scout Group. and help in training programe, annual camp, overnight hike, etc. of Bank Colony Scout Group. He donated few books for library> Considering all these executive committee decided to offer him Life Membership of Bangladesh Bank Colony Scout Group, Chittagong on 1st November,2003.

Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed, Governor, Bangladesh Bank was ex-officio chief patron of Bangladesh Bank colony Scout Group> It is learnt that he was a good scout in his student life. When he was sub-divisional officer of pirojpur he was the president of sub divisional scout. In 2005 Governor Salehuddin Ahmed paid a visit to Bangladesh Bank Colony Scout Group and pleased to see the grand campfire item arranged by the scout group He gave a computer, a television set and book self for scout den. Honorable governor Salehuddin Ahmed was given “Life Member” of the group on 06.01.2007. In a colorful ceremony arranged in scout Ramna on 9 th February, 2008he was so honored and handed over the ife member crest and certificate.

Zeaul Hasan Siddiqee was ex-officio patron of the scout group when he was Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank. Mr.Siddiqee was very much interested in scouting and other social activities. In 2007 he attended with his wife 44 th annual camp of scout group held in Eastern Refinery Model High School, Patenga, Chittagong. On being informed that scout group is facing difficulties in performing scout activities due to shortage of tent he was so kind enough to sanction a special fund of Tk. 25000.00 for purchase of two tents. Due to his great devotion and sincere efforts Bangladesh Bank Colony Scout Group the executive committee offered him “ Life Member” from 21 July, 2008.

Md.Morshid Koli Khan was the Deputy Governor, Bangladesh Bank ex-officio patron of Bangladesh Bank Colony Scout Group, Chittagong.He was scout in his student life. He attende3d Pakstan National Scout Jamboree in 1967 held in . He together with his family members attended 45 th annual Camp of the scout group held in Kaptai, Rangamati in 2008 and in another annual camp held in Cox’sbazar in 2009. He was so kind enough to grant sum of Tk.25000.00 for scout dress for scout members. He also sanctioned an amount of Tk. 15000.00 for purchase of crokeries for scout den. Due to his great devotion and noble deed towards scout group the executive committee was pleased to offer him “Life Member” on 21 st

July,2008. Md.Mofizuddin Chowdhury was the Executive Director, Bangladesh Bank, when he was posted to Chittagong office as general manager took oath as ex-officio President of Bangladesh Bank Colony Scout Group, Chittagong. He was well acquainted with Bangladesh Bank Colony Scout Group , its scouting activities and .scout movement. on his active role and cooperative mind it was possible to arrange “Life Member” award distribution ceremony in the conference room of Bangladesh Bank, Head Office, in 2005. At the time of his transfer from Chittagong he gave a Padestel Fan to the scout group. Due to his sincere efforts and devotion to scout movement as well as Bangladesh Bank Colony Scout Group, its executive committee decidedto th offer him “Life Member” on 6 January,2007.

Md. Harunur Rashid Chowdhury was Executive Director, Bangladesh Bank and also ex-officio Presidentof Bank Colony Scout Group when posted to Chittagong office as General Manager. He was vice president of the group.in the yaer 1989-90. He loves scouting and very much fond of scout activities. He participated all other activities of the group like Guardians day, Eid-e-Mailad un nabi(S), World scout day, cub holday etc, with keen interest. He managed 15 super quality armed chair for scout den for use of group officials. Mr. Chowdhury at last arranged for scout group a set of sound system from BSRM, Chittagong. Due to his greatness and noble deeds towards scout movement and also to Bangladesh bank Colony scout Group he was awarded with “Life Member” on 6 January, 2007.

Sitangshu kumer Sur Chowdhury, Deputy Governor, Bangladesh Bank was ex-officio president of Bangladesh Bank Colony Scout Group, Chittagong when he was posted to Bnagladesh Bank, Chittagong as General Manager. He was very much impressed being informed about Bank Colony Scout Group’s activities and its aims and objects He was also convinced by the values of scout Law, Promise and Motto. Mr.Chowdhury always tried to be present in scouts curriculum. He always encouraged scouts, cubs, and rovers to be punctual in studies, social works and scout activities for better life.. Governor and two Deputy Governors of Bangladesh Bank visited scout group on various occasions during his tenure of President ship. It was possible only due to his eagerness, efforts and to his heartiest co-operation.On February,2008 a ceremonial and colorful function was arranged by the scout group in connection with giving Life Membership to the then Governor followed by guard of honor and a grand campfire also possible for his heartiest cooperation. A colorful 11th edition( special issue ) of “Lushai”, the annual magazine of scout group was published under his supervision. For his kindness and noble deeds to scout movement executive committee of scout group honoured him with Life Member on 21 July,2008. Mr.S.K.Sur Chowdhury is now one of the ex-officio patrons of the group. to memories his sincere efforts and devotion to scout movement Bangladesh Scouts also awarded him with “National Certificate” award in 2010.

Syed A.F.M.Ataur Rahman is a veteran scouter and also a good organizer. Since establishment of Bangladesh Bank Colony Scout Group in 1961 Mr. Syed Ataur Rahman attached with this group as a boy scout. By terns he was in 1964-65. He participated in provincial scout rally held in in 1962 as a scout of the group. He obtained Cub Master training in 1965, Scout Master training in 1966 and Rover Leader in 1967. He performed his responsibilities successfully as Group Scout Leader and Secretary from 1972-1987 of Bangladesh Bank Colony Scout Group, Chittagong. He is now advisor to the group scouters council and vice president of scout group. Scouter Syed Ataur Rahman is a wood badger both in cub and scout section. Due to his sincere efforts many group scout member obtained President Rover scout award, President Scout award and Shapla cub awards. He is a leader trainer and also Deputy National Commissioner( Training) of Bagladesh Scouts. He attended all the annual camp taking from 1 ST to 49 th and also other activities of the group. Mr. Syed A,F,M,Ataur Rahman attended 4th Pakistan National Jamboree in 1967, 5th National Jamboree in Dhaka in 1969, 2nd world Islamic Jamboree held in Libya in 1983 , 20th Asia pacific Regional Scout Conference held in New Delhi in 2001. Besides all this he paid active role in connection with construction of scout Den in 1972 and later reconstruction work with his other scout friends. Due to his great devotion to scout movement Bangladesh Scouts awarded him a) National Certificate , b) Medal of Merit ( Green), c) Medal of Merit( Red), d) Bar to the Medal of Merit e) Long Service Award, f) 2 nd highest award ”Silver Hilsha” and later highest award “ Silver Tiger” of Bangladesh Scouts. Bangladesh Bank Colony Scout Group is proud of him and accordingly he was given “Life Member” on 6 january,2007. He retired from Bangladesh Bank service as Deputy General Manager in 30 June,2007.

Shamsuddin Ahmed is a well wisher and an active guardin of Bangladesh Bank Colony Scout Group, Chittagong. He is an executive member of the group since 1994. From 1992 he lived in Bank Colony with his family and thus came to the close contact of the scout activities directly. He is a social and cultural minded , participated almost all the functions and scout activities as and when arranged. He was governing body member of Bangladesh Bank Colony High School for three terms and advisor of Muktijodha Sangsad, Bangladesh Bank Unit Command, Chittagong. He was born in district. His father was an employee of Chittagong Port Authority and that’s why he and his family members came to Chittagong in 1955 and stayed Port Colony till 1992. Mr, Ahmed is a founder member of Port Colony Sabuj Sangha, a govt. registered social welfare organization and by terns became its Secretary and President for many years. He is always in favor of scout movement and very much co-operative to perform the responsibility rest upon him. In time of annual camp he perform duties of quarter master general and takes care of attending cub, scout, rovers and scouters in the camp. in the second phase of construction work of scout Den he was co-coordinator of construction sub committee and successfully get the work done. He retired from Bangladesh Bank service as Joint Director on 7 th March,2004. Due to his sincere co-operation, active participation and noble deeds towards Bangladesh Bank Colony Scout Group, Chittagong and also to the scout movement he was given “Life Member” on 6 January, 2007. His activities towards scout movement was also acknowledged by Bangladesh Scouts and for this he obtained Awards a) National certificate in 2009 and Medal of Merit in 2010.

Syed Nasir uddin has got admitted in Bangladesh Bank Colony Scout Group as boy scout in the year 1961. Since establishment of scout group he is performing his duties and responsibilities till now He is now Group Scout Leader and Secretary of the group. In 1967 he obtained highest ” Quid-e-Azam “ scout skill badge. He was rover scout in 1966 and assistant cub leader in 1967, scout leader from 1972 to 1987. He always thinks development, expansion and betterment of the group. Scout leader mr. Syed Nasir uddin has basic training in every section of scouts i.e. , boy scout and rover scout. He is also wood badger. In 1967 he attended i) 4 th Pakistan National Jamboree held in Karachi as chittagong district contingent troop leader ii) 2 nd All Pakistan Rover Moot held in Jungle Mangle in Abotabad, Pakistan as leader of Chittagong Division. ii) 5 th Pakistan National Jamboree held in Mouchak with Bangladesh Bank Colony Scout Group, iv) 1 st Bangladesh scout Samabesh held in Jessore in 1974. He attended almost all National Jamboree, Rover moot, Cub Campuree, Comdeca including Annual camp, hiking, cub carnival and other social functions of his own group. In 1970 and 1991 when divesting cyclone and flood submerged the coastal area scouter Syed Nasir uddin with his rovers and scouts rushed to help affected people with clothes, medicine, fresh water etc . In affected area innumerable dead bodies were also buried under his leadership. In cultural activities specially in radio programeme Mr. Nasir is well known. Due to his sincere efforts a radio programeme named “Scuot Angan” were regularly telecasted through Bangladesh Betar, Chittagong. He was an executive member of Bangladesh Bank Colony High School from 1992-1995. Due to his long service and experience in scout movement he owned i) National Certificate ii) Medal of Merit , iii) Bar to the Medal of Merit, iv) Long service award from Bangladesh Scouts. Very recently he also achieved CNC certificate award. In 1971 Syed Nasir uddin participated in the liberation war. He was group comandar in sector no.1. During war his father who was a employee of Chittagong Port was brutally killed by Pakistani army. Mr. Syed Nasir was one of the founders of Muktijoddha Sangsad Bangladesh Bank Unit Command for a long period of 19 years. Due to his glorious, sincere and effective service in scout movement and Bangladesh Bank Colony Scout Group, Chittagong the executive committee was pleased to give him “ Life Member” on 06 January, 2007. Scout group is proud of having this freedom fighter Syed Nasir uddin. He retired from Bangladesh Bank service as Deputy Director in 26 January, 2008. On 30 th December, 2011 Bangladesh Scouts arranged a reception in honor of the freedom fighter s of scout arena where Syed Nasir uddin awarded certificate and medal in recognition for active participation in the war of liberation.

Alhaj M.A.Alamgir was a scout of Bank Colony Scout Group, Chittagong. In 1965 he attended Chittagong Divisional Scout Samabesh held in Brahammanbaria in 1965. He became rover scout in 1968. Mr. Alamgir was assistant scout Master cum rover scout in 1969. He completed cum master training in 1970 and took the assignment of cub master of the group. In 1994 he obtained wood badge in cub section. Alhaj M,A.Alamgir took part in i) Divisional scout rally ii) Provincial scout rally iii) 4th Pakistan National Jamboree held in Karachi iv) 5 th Pakistan National Scout Jamboree held in Maouchak, Dhaka. v) National Cub Camporee etc. He rendered his service in Bangladesh Bank Colony Scout Group from very starting of the group. Due to devotion, sincerity and noble deeds and long service to the group and scout movement Bangladesh Scouts honored him with a) Certificate of Merit b) Medal of Merit c) Long service award in 1995. He retired from Bangladesh Bank service as Assistant Manager(Cash) on 19 May,2004 Bangladesh Bank Colony Scout Group honored him “ Life Member” on 6 th January,2007.

A;haj A.M.M.Iftekhar-ul-Haque started scouting in Bangladesh Bank Colony Scout Group as a rover scout. In 1977 he has completed Scout Master Basic Training Course and became scout leader of Bangladesh Bank Colony Scout Group, Chittagong In 1984 he earned Wood Badge in scout section and in 1998 parchment in cub section. He is now a leader trainer of Bangladesh Scouts. Mr. Iftekhar performs responsibilities in various portfolio of Chittagong local scouts, metropolitan scouts, divisional/ regional scouts. He is nominated regional representative to national executive committee for three years. He is performing tenure of Treasurer for third time of Bangladesh Scout Chittagong Region. He was Deputy Regional Commissioner (Training

& Programe) from 1998 to 2006. He was member of governing body of Bangladesh Bank Colony High School for 3 terms (9 years). He participated in many national/ regional/ district scout jamboree/ rally/ moot etc as an official. In 1985 he attended 10 th Bharat National Scout and Guide Jamboree held in in India as one of the members of Bangladesh Scouts contingent. Acknowledging his glorious long service to scout movement Bangladesh Scouts awarded him with “Long service Decoration” in 2003 and 2nd highest national award-“Silver Hilsha” in 2007 & also highest National Award “Silver Tiger in 2012”. He is serving his best as treasurer of Bangladesh Bank Colony Scout Group since 1.1.1995. Considering his devotion and service to Bangladesh Bank Colony Scout Group as well as to the scout movement executive committee of the group decided to offer him “ Life Member” from the 6th January, 2007. Mr. Iftekhar has retired from Bangladesh Bank service as Deputy General Manager on 16 March,2010.

Alhaj Nasiruddin Ahmed was Head Master of Bangladesh Bank Colony High School, Agrabad, Chittagong. As per bye-law Head Master of Bank Colony School is ex-officio member of scout group. He always tried his best to motivate the students to be admitted in scout group and advised them to pass on discipline and regimental life to built future carrier. He attended almost all scout activities of scout group e.g. Annual camp, hiking, cub carnival, Cub expedition and other activities of scout group. he supported scout group mentally, physically even in sometimes financially. His son and daughter were members of Bangladesh Bank Colony Scout Group. He was very much cooperative and well-behaved to the cub, scout, rover and leaders of the group. Considering his contribution to scout movement as well as Bangladesh Bank Colony Scout Group its executive committee decided to offer him “Life Member” on 7th November, 1910.
