Bear right onto Lord Street and at the r o h end, cross the road and over a stone stile, leading to a paved path. S 3. Ascend this path and steep field to reach ‘White Nancy’, Staff stopping to admire the views of Bollington and nearby Bowstones Rainow. White Nancy is a white, grade II listed building, circular in shape, which was built in 1817 to commemorate Blakehey victory at the Battle of Waterloo. Wood 4. When you have recovered your breath, descend on the same path, but bear left after the stone stile and then take the right turn, walking down High Street. Adlington 5. Turn left down Palmerston Street (refreshments available in one of the number of pubs and cafes on this stretch of Adlington l Sponds road), then take a right up Beeston Brow. Reed Hill M Styperson APPROXIMATE TIME: Hill 4-5 HOURS 213 m 1. Walk to the bottom on the Hotel drive and turn left, keeping to the pavement, walking towards Pott Shrigley village. Walk past the church and take the 1st left (Bakestonedale Road). This is the start of a famous road cycling hill climb, nicknamed ‘The Brickworks’ and raced by Mark Cavendish and Bradley Wiggins during the 2016 Tour of Britain. 372 m 2. Head over the crest bearing slightly left, down and then up to the next ridge, ield 282 m f Sponds Hill. Upon reaching the track (Gritstone Trail), les turn left, heading towards the white house surrounded by c telephone masts in the distance. In front of the house are the ‘Bow Stones’ – way markers dating back to the Bronze Age. Mac 3. Just before the house, climb over the stile to the left, and descend the steep stony track heading towards the Knightslow Wood in the distance. Walk straight ahead through the wood. Lyme Hall, scene of the 1995 BBC adaptation of ‘Pride & Prejudice’ can be seen through the trees on your right hand side. Ri ver De 4. Exit the woods, following the stone track down the hill to the an right. Head through the gate into Lyme Park parking area. Here, visitors can enjoy the Hall, Coffee Shop, National Trust d Shop and adventure playground. oa R n B 5. To head back to the Hotel, at the bottom of the track mentioned to laz g e H above, bear left, over the cattle grid and up the road. Through the gate, turn left up the narrow road, joining the main road at the Methodist Chapel.
