On Wednesday, October 10 the CFHLA Governmental Affairs (GA) Committee met with representatives from the Florida Restaurant & Lodging Association and regional theme park partners to draft the CFHLA’s Legislative Priorities for 2019.

This meeting, held at Disney’s Boardwalk Inn (Thank You, Adrianna Sekula), allowed for CFHLA Members to discuss the Association’s position on key Hospitality issues such as the Tourist Development Tax, VISIT FLORIDA funding, human trafficking, and affordable housing development through the Sadowski Affordable Housing Trust Fund.

Next month, the Governmental Affairs Committee will meet with Ajit Lalchandani, Orange County Administrator, to discuss Hospitality developments in Orange County and to celebrate Ajit’s successful career in local government.

On Thursday, October 18, CFHLA-PAC Chairman, Jay Leonard, and CFHLA Public Policy Director, Rico Pasamba, attended Patricia Rumph’s campaign fundraiser. Prior to the event, the CFHLA-PAC/PC Boards of Directors voted unanimously to endorse Patricia’s campaign for Orange County Commissioner, District 2.

CFHLA is proud to endorse Patricia Rumph and believes she will be a tremendous advocate for Tourism on the Orange County Commission. Ms. Rumph has an extensive career in state & local government serving for 30 years with the Florida Department of Corrections and on various boards within Orange County.

Ms. Rumph will join CFHLA for the next Coffee Club Meeting on Friday, November 2 at 8:00 AM to discuss the importance of the Tourism Development Tax and other Hospitality Industry priorities within Orange County.

PAC/PC BOARD ELECTIONS

The CFHLA Political Action Committee will be conducting Board of Director Elections throughout the upcoming weeks. Board Ballots will be distributed to PAC-dues paying CFHLA members on Monday, October 29 and voting will conclude on Wednesday, November 7.

New PAC/PC Boards of Directors will be announced on Friday, November 9 at the Wrap-up Luncheon for the 2018 PAC/PC Boards of Directors. Also, at this meeting, the 2019-2020 PAC/PC Boards of Directors will elect new Officers.

The annual Florida "Tallahassee Tourism Day" date has been established for 2019: Wednesday, March 13, 2019.
