• LAG Bura is actively involved in LEADER implementation to nine local government units: town of Obrovac and municipalities: Jasenice, Novigrad, Poličnik, , Ražanac, Starigrad, and . • Local Action Group (LAG) “Bura” was established on 25 October 2011 but was created under new leadership and new headquarters on 01.05.2015, making it the youngest LAG in . • The work of LAG “Bura” is in accordance with the measures and goals contained in the Program of Rural Development of the Republic of Croatia 2014-2020. • LAG Bura is located in County, in the central part of Dalmatia, Croatia. • LAG area covers 1 015,6 square kilometres equaling to 28% of the total area of . • According to the census from 2011 LAG Bura has 25,101 inhabitants (which equals 14.71% of the total population of Zadar County). • LAG “Bura”’s area is a unique mix of mountain and sea area. In 2017 there was 168.475 tourist arrivals. • All municipalities in LAG „Bura“ have Tourist Boards except Zemunik Donji. The area of LAG “Bura” is orientated mostly on agriculture and rural tourism. Agriculture

• The whole LAG area has all the natural prerequisites for the development of olive growing, viticulture, cultivation of medicinal and aromatic herbs, figs and almonds. • The LAG area is divided into blue and green areas. In the green area, agricultural activity prevails (olive growing, viticulture, vegetable growing, fruit growing, etc.), while on the blue part due to their landscape specificities, it has been recognized by livestock activity. • There are many active forms of tourism in the LAG, such as climbing, cycling, trekking, kayaking, rafting, bungee jumping, boat touring, diving, cave exploring. Active tourism is especially recognised in Starigrad, Paklenica, which has an international recognition for its climbing center. Rural Tourism

•Municipality of Vrsi has uniquely intertwined green and blue area paired with a unique 34 kilometres of beach. Rural Tourism •Rural Villas, are becoming common in LAG’s rural green areas. They don’t offer vicinity to the sea but offer privacy, swimming pool, often a possibility of fruit and vegetable picking in order for tourists to envisage and explore real rural life, municipalities Poličnik, Zemunik Donji, Obrovac & Vrsi 1. An example of good practice: U.O. Rajna

•Rajna (sole-proprietorship) is a family-owned and operated business for over 40 years. They are located in Starigrad-Paklenica, Zadar County, Croatia. They run a small hotel and two vacation houses. Marasović family has extensive experience in tourism and continuously strive to improve their services. They combine outdoor activities with accommodation, such as photo safari, cycling, hiking and kayak.

2. Example of good practice: Riva Rafting Centar

• Riva Rafting Centar, a family owned business located on the river Zrmanja offers camping, restaurant with traditional dishes, rafting, hiking, jeep tours, horseback riding and cycling. LAG Bura area has a vast array of traditional local products:

1. PRISNAC • Prisnac, exists for decades in this region of Croatia. It has been served in the past as wedding cake. It comprises of eggs, cream, flour and traditional Skuta cheese. 2. Traditional Products: šokol

• Šokol ham has to be left three to seven days to stay in the sea salt, then put in boiled black wine and eventually the meat is lathered and "spotted" with spices: pepper, and nutmeg.

3. Traditional Products: Dalmatian prosciutto

• Dalmatian prosciutto is a gastronomic specialty. Due to its specific taste and unusual way of obtaining, drying on the wind and smoke, it is considered one of the most original products of Croatian cuisine, and therefore became an indispensable part of our offer. 4. Traditional Products: Maraschino

Maraschino is an original Zadar Liqueur recognized all over the world. It is recognizable by its characteristic sweet taste and aromatic aroma. It is prepared according to the traditional recipe of the pharmacy of the Dominican monastery at the beginning of the 16th century. This preparation is from distillate of Dalmatian cherries, called maraska. Traditional Products

Šinjorina Smokva

• One of our most famous producer that exports abroad is OPG Šinjorina Smokva. It was founded in 2004 and is engaged in the cultivation and processing of fruit from its own orchard. They make organic jams made of figs, maraschino cherry, plum, mandarin, apple quince. They won numerous domestic and foreign awards for quality and design and created a Fig Festival in Zadar which became a tradition in Zadar County area.

Šinjorina Smokva

OPG Ivica Đurica

• OPG Ivica Đurica is a biggest producer of immortelle in the LAG Bura area. He has immortelle plantage of 2.95 hectares and plans to build his own distillery in the near future. He also produces maize, basil and isop. OPG Mladen Dušević

Family agricultural estate

• 20 different varieties of olives, they produce five monosortic oils and a blend of all the mentioned varieties on their own recipe called Selection. Winners of numerous international awards
