The meeting was held at BRC Covina Bowl at 11:00 AM in a room that filled up quickly and so did the heat of the day. There were approximately 40 guests along with the SGVUSBC board, most were there to receive their tournament awards. Meeting began with salute to our flag, roll call then on to the business of the day, reports from the officers and directors. A report given by Association Manager Linda Johnson addressed the loss of members again the past season of over 400. Correspondence from USBC reported of the transfer of Bowlium Lanes to the San Gabriel Valley USBC beginning August 1, 2011. The transfer was at the request of the Owner/Proprietor of Bowlium Lanes not the SGVUSBC. SGVUSBC now has 10 centers again with 132 leagues including youth, seniors and adult a total membership 5500. Thinking back over the years that total was the total membership for the summer season, how sad is that! Certificates were awarded to all the tournament bowlers, tro- phies were delayed and will be awarded during league play to the winners. Congratulations to all the tournament champions look to see you again next year. The 2012 Local city tournaments will be held at Oak Tree Lanes and Bowlium Lanes. Oak Tree will host the Doubles and Singles events with Bowlium hosting the Team and Youth special events. Upcoming Charity Tournaments for the SGVUSBC are; August 7th “Diabetes” No-Tap at BRC Covina Bowl; check in at 11:00 bowl Noon. Cost $25.00. The board holds a special meeting following the AOM and elects the officers to serve. President Janet Loucks called the special board meeting to order following close of the Annual Open Meeting for the election of Officers to serve a two year term. Janet gave her resignation as president due to problems with family and work. With her resignation the board had to elect a president to complete her term of one year. Joe Hilke was elected as president to finish her term of office; Chris Pilios elected as 1st Vice President and Nancy Carrillo 3rd Vice President for two year terms. On a special note; Chris Pilios was surprised with his induction into the San Gabriel Valley USBC Hall of Fame for Meritorious Service. He joined the SGV in the 1980’s has bowled in sev- eral centers including Azusa Bowl, Covina Bowl, Chaparral Lanes and West Covina Lanes. He was recognized for his dedication to the SGVUSBC. He volunteered his help in the association office during the merge and after, chairing the BVL and became a certified lane certification when they needed help, you can find him on the lanes making award presentations and gathering bowlers to participate in local, state and national tournaments. He has served as delegate to both CA State and National Conventions. Chris has rolled a 300 game along with two (2) 299 games. Congratulations Chris on a well deserved honor.
