Anderson, Davis, Goff, Lasco And Lawler To Participate In Indianapolis Five Former Cal Players At This Week’s NFL Scouting Combine

INDIANAPOLIS – Five former Cal football players will participate at the 2016 NFL Scouting Combine presented by Hyundai to take place February 23-29 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. The former Cal players participating in the event include tight end Stephen Anderson, Trevor Davis, quarterback , running back Daniel Lasco and wide receiver Kenny Lawler. The five former players equal Cal’s most combine participants since five Golden Bears also participated in 2013. Lasco arrived at the combine on Tuesday along with fellow running backs, offensive linemen and specialists check in. He will be followed Wednesday by the other four former Cal players when quarterbacks, wide receivers and tight ends arrive. Defensive linemen and linebackers check in on Thursday followed by defensive backs on Friday. On-field position work and a series of measurable drills begin Friday for Lasco and the remainder of Tuesday’s arrivals. Anderson, Davis, Goff and Lawler will all go through their on-field work and measurable drills Saturday followed by defensive linemen and linebackers Sunday and defensive backs Monday. Measurable drills include the 40-yard dash, bench press, vertical jump, broad jump, 3 cone drill and shuttle run. In addition to the measurable skills testing and on-field position work, other activities for each player at the combine include registration, orientation, hospital pre-exam and X-rays, measurements, medical examinations, media interviews, team interviews, an NFL Players Association meeting and psychological testing. The annual event showcases over 300 of the top players with executives, coaching staffs, player personnel departments and medical staffs from all 32 NFL teams on hand to evaluate the professional football prospects. Anderson finished his Cal career with 101 receptions for 1,260 yards receiving and seven grabs over 37 games and 25 starts during the last four seasons after redshirting as a true freshman in 2011. Davis had 2,300 all-purpose yards over 23 games (100.0 ypg) and 11 starts during his two campaigns of action at Cal including 1,071 yards receiving and seven touchdown catches on 64 receptions after redshirting in 2013 following his transfer from Hawai’i. Goff set 26 school records during his three seasons at Cal in which he started all 37 games possible at quarterback with his career school marks including passing yards (12,220), touchdown passes (96), total offense (12,086) and completions (977), while the two-time captain was second on the school’s all-time list for passing efficiency (143.95) behind only . Goff broke pair of Pac-12 single-season records in his final campaign as a 2015 junior when he passed for 4,719 yards and 43 to lead an 8-5 Cal team to a winning record and bowl game for the first time since 2011 as well as a post-season win for the first time since 2008. He was also the first Cal quarterback to earn first-team All-Pac-12 honors since Rodgers in 2004. Lasco was also a two-time team captain who finished his career with 2,395 career all-purpose yards over 41 games and 15 starts including 1,872 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns on the ground to rank 10th on Cal’s all-time list. Lawler finished his collegiate career tied for second on Cal’s all-time list for touchdown receptions and tied for 12th in the Pac-12 with 27 scoring grabs among 143 catches for 1,706 yards receiving over 35 games and 19 starts. He led Cal in both touchdown receptions and overall catches in both his sophomore and junior seasons in 2014 and 2015, capping his collegiate career as a junior with a first-team All-Pac-12 selection when he recorded a career-high 13 touchdown catches to lead the team that was one off Cal’s single-season school record while ranking second in the Pac-12 and tied for eighth nationally. Many media outlets will provide extensive coverage of the 2016 NFL Scouting Combine throughout the seven days of the event including exclusive live television coverage on NFL Network Friday-Sunday from 6 am – 1 pm PT and Monday from 6 – 11 am PT. Less than three weeks after the conclusion of the combine, Cal will host its annual Pro Day at Kabam Field at California Memorial Stadium for former Golden Bears who are professional football prospects to work out for professional football scouts. The event will be held on Friday, March 18 with the public portion at Kabam Field at California Memorial Stadium scheduled to begin at approximately 9 am PT. Gates will open one hour in advance of the public portion of the event. The 2016 NFL Draft will be held April 28-30 at the Auditorium Theatre in Chicago. Cal has had 26 first-round picks and 226 selections overall since the draft began in 1936, as well as 53 selections overall and 10 first-round picks in the last 16 drafts that have taken place since 2000. Stephen Anderson (2011-15), TE, 6-3, 230, San Jose, CA/Piedmont Hills HS • Finished his Cal career with 101 receptions for 1,260 yards receiving and seven touchdown grabs over 37 games and 25 starts during the last four seasons after redshirting as a true freshman in 2011 • Played in all 13 games and led all Cal receivers with 12 starts as a 2015 senior when he contributed 41 receptions for 474 yards receiving with two touchdown catches while he also had at least one catch in 12 of 13 contests to earn honorable mention All-Pac-12 honors from the league’s coaches • Produced his top numbers as a 2014 junior when he recorded career highs of 46 receptions, 661 yards receiving and five touchdown catches despite missing the first two games due to injury to earn third-team (College Sports Madness) and honorable mention (coaches) All-Pac-12 honors • Led Cal as a junior with a career-high of 66.1 receiving yards per game • Earned Cal’s Ken Cotton Award as the team’s Most Courageous Player both as a junior and senior • Had a career high nine catches for 117 yards receiving at Oregon State as a junior after an earlier contest the same season in which he registered a previous career-best seven catches for a career-high 136 yards receiving and one touchdown against Colorado, with the single scoring grab one of seven times in which he had a single touchdown reception to equal a career best
