Brooks Koepka Sponsor exemption Brooks Koepka got off to a solid start with birdies at his first two holes en route to a 4-under 67 and two-stroke lead headed into the final round.

The last three players to win on the PGA TOUR playing on a sponsor exemption: Name Tournament 2010 FedEx St. Jude Classic 2005 84 Lumber Classic 2003 Deutsche Bank Champ.

Koepka, a 23-year-old Florida native, won three events on the Challenge Tour in 2013, the second of which being a record 10-stroke victory at the Fred Olsen Challenge de Espana. With the three Challenge Tour wins, Koepka earned his European Tour card for the remainder of the 2013 season and all of 2014.

Koepka, a three-time All-American at Florida State University, is making his fourth career PGA TOUR start this week, and first outside the majors. After missed cuts at the 2012 U.S. Open and 2013 Open Championship, Koepka most recently finished T70 at the 2013 PGA Championship.

On the various worldwide Tours Koepka has played in 2013, he has teed it up in 15 different countries.

Third-Round Notes Since moving to CordeValle GC in 2010, the only third-round leader to hang on for the win was Rocco Mediate in 2010. After 54 holes, Mediate led by three strokes over .

The 54-hole tournament record since the move to CordeValle GC belongs to Rocco Mediate, who was at 17-under 196 after the third round in 2010.

Additional Player Notes George McNeill George McNeill birdied five of his last six holes in round three en route to a career-low and course record, 9-under 62. McNeill’s career-low nine-hole score came at CordeValle GC with a 7-under 28 on the front nine in round two of 2011.

McNeill, who won the 2007 Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, is in search of his third career PGA TOUR win. In 2012, McNeill claimed his second TOUR title at the presented by seepuertorico.com. After hitting just five and six of 14 fairways in regulation in rounds one and two, respectively, McNeill found 11 fairways in round three. He hit 12 of 18 greens in regulation, but missed just two in round three.

Jimmy Walker Jimmy Walker made 10 birdies in round three, good for a career-low-tying, 9-under 62. Walker posted the same score in the final round at CordeValle last year, en route to T4 honors. At 12-under, he trails Brooks Koepka by three strokes.

Prior to last year’s T4 finish, Walker missed the cut in 2008 and 2010 and withdrew in 2009.

Walker, who remains in search of his first career PGA TOUR win in his 188 th TOUR start this week, came closest to the winner’s circle earlier this year with T3 honors at the .

Despite his position, Walker has been less-than-accurate off the tee through three rounds, finding just 17 of 42 fairways. After hitting just 10 of 18 fairways in round two, Walker improved to 16/18 in round three.

Vijay Singh World Golf Hall-of Fame Member Vijay Singh drove his tee shot at the par-4 17 th hole to inside two feet for eagle. He finished with a 6-under 65 to get to 12-under.

Singh, a 34-time winner on the PGA TOUR, is looking for his first win since the 2008 Deutsche Bank Championship. In his first start on the Champions Tour last month, Singh finished T6 at the Pacific Links Hawaii Championship.

Jason Kokrak Last year’s Frys.com Open co-runner-up Jason Kokrak picked up in round three right where he left off at the end of round two. Following an eagle-three at his last hole Friday (No. 9), Kokrak eagled the par-5 first hole Saturday morning in the third round. He finished with a 3-under 68 and trails by two at 13-under.

Kokrak, who made it through the first three FedExCup Playoffs events in 2013, remains in search of his first PGA TOUR win. His career-best finish came with a share of second place at CordeValle GC last year.

Kokrak is making his 55 th career PGA TOUR start this week.

Hideki Matsuyama Making his debut as a PGA TOUR member, 21-year-old Hideki Matsuyama is 9-under through 54 holes, six off the lead. He is coming off a 1-3-1 performance for the International Team in last week’s . Matsuyama turned professional in 2013, finishing inside the top 10 at both the U.S. Open and en route to earning his PGA TOUR card via the non-member FedExCup points list.
