Many of the papers have resulted from cooperation between applied linguists and specialist lecturers and describe cooperative models of literacy education based on interdisciplinary partnerships. Keynote addresses include "Disciplinary and Cultural Perspectives on Student Literacy" (I.Reid) and "Communicating Within Cultures, Communicating Across Cultures, Communicating Between Cultures" (A.Liddicoat). A colloquium on intercultural variation in academic communication includes papers by Andy Kirkpatrick, Lesley Farrell, Gillian Ferguson, Anthony Liddicoat, and Zosia Golebiowski.
