Well located, close to the inner city of Sydney, Newington College is a GPS day and that has been educating boys for over 154 years. It is associated with the Uniting Church. Diversity differentiates Newington from most other independent schools and incorporates a rich ethnic culture, enormous subject choice and a vast array of co-curricular opportunities. The College’s academic program fosters learners who are inquisitive, self-directed and reflective—all key contributors to academic performance. Newington offers both the Higher School Certificate (HSC) and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) at Years 11 and 12. SCHOLARSHIPS ON OFFER Newington has a broad range of scholarships (talent based) and bursaries (means tested scholarships) available for entry into Years 7, 9 and 11 in 2018. The categories for both Scholarships and Bursaries are Academic, All-rounder and (strings, choral, brass/woodwind). There is a separate Indigenous Bursary for any Year group. A Boarding assistance scheme for regional boys is available for entry at Years 9 and 10. All applicants will be required to sit a scholarship test. In addition consideration will be given to academic ability, character and leadership attributes, citizenship and active participation in the co-curricular program. In the case of a Bursary, a confidential financial questionnaire will need to be completed to demonstrate that there is a financial need that would otherwise prevent attendance at Newington.
