Adelaide is a city in transformation. Its changing landscape, including the rejuvenated Riverbank Precinct, a series of new growth industries and a pipeline of additional hotels and ADELAIDE development, has injected a fresh energy into the city and seen it emerge as a leading destination for business events.

CONVENIENCE Without doubt, one of Adelaide’s primary convention advantages is its incredible accessibility. Centrally located within Australia, Adelaide is supported by a growing flight network that offers one-stop connections to 300 destinations around the world. The CBD is just 15 minutes from the airport and home to a lively arts, entertainment, sporting and dining scene, including busy cafés, restaurants and laneways. Once you’ve arrived, there’s little need for transportation; the compact nature of the city makes it ideal for “walking” conferences.

The expanded Adelaide Convention Centre sits at the heart of the city’s Riverbank Precinct, which is in the midst of a multi- billion-dollar redevelopment. A hive of activity, the Riverbank is where the city’s cultural, sporting, education, medical, conference and entertainment zones merge, making it Australia’s best connected business events district.

At Adelaide Convention Centre, we’re proud of the company we keep. Our positioning adjacent to the world-leading BioMed City— the largest health and life sciences cluster in the Southern Hemisphere—places more than 1,000 researchers, academics, clinicians and potential delegates on our doorstep.

We’ve formed a strong alliance with precinct partners to add value to conference programs. As your event partner, we’re able to facilitate connections with local thought leaders, innovative industry and research bodies, and academics; to conduct site tours, share ideas, and gain access to key speakers. This approach is all about enriching the conference experience both within the Centre and the city itself, creating a lasting legacy.

03 A City in Transformation A Centre Transformed In addition to an intense focus on the medical industry, Adelaide enjoys a strong reputation for innovation and discovery, and excels in the fields of technology, education, agriculture and defence. We’re proud to support small incubator events in South Australia’s key growth industries.

TECHNOLOGY & INNOVATION Tonsley is Adelaide’s leading international innovation hub. Dedicated to hi-tech manufacturing and R&D, it is a place where academic research meets corporate INNOVATION reality to deliver practical outcomes. In addition, the city is also home to TechinSA in Thebarton, which features numerous hi-tech companies, creating one of the largest incubation clusters of its type in Australia.

EDUCATION South Australia prides itself on being the nation’s “knowledge” state; home to three world-class public universities, international education remains the state’s largest service export with students from 125 countries coming to study in Adelaide each year. The city’s ongoing commitment to education is further evident in the development of a “Knowledge and Innovation” quarter in the city’s East End.

AGRICULTURE Agriculture is a key economic priority for the state, employing one in five South Australians. Benefiting from a clean, green environment, the state enjoys a global reputation for food and beverage production, as well as for its strengths in food safety, biosecurity, freight, cold chain logistics and more.

DEFENCE Widely recognised as Australia’s defence centre, Adelaide is the headquarters for much of the country’s defence industry research, development and investment. Illustrating the state’s active participation in this field, South Australia is home to the Future Submarines Project. Tonsley Innovation District Image courtesy of Renewal SA

Our chefs celebrate the provenance of food: where it comes from, how it is grown, who made it and why, and place a strong emphasis on South Australian grown and produced ingredients sourced from sustainable, balanced environments. You’ll find stories of South Australia on every plate - think luscious oysters from the West Coast, wild Kingfish from the Gulf, and premium lamb from the Murraylands.

Internationally recognised as a leader in sustainability, we have actively participated in the global EarthCheck program since 2007 and are on track to progress from Gold to Platinum certification in 2018.
