Rebekah Shapiro presented the word of the day, "Birthday." Jean Schore introduced our visiting Rotarians. Bill LeRoy sold raffle tickets for a book, "The Biography of Walter Cronkite," donated by Jim Emerson. In addition to those mentioned above, Casey Blair, Roger Park, Kevin Leong, and Tom Briody were all busy helping to run the meeting. Sunshine Otis Paul is home from the hospital. Recognitions and Fines: John Dracup: $100 to Rotary Service in honor of the Rotarians he met during his recent Kenya water project. Jim Emerson: $100 to Rotary Service in honor of Jean Schore and what she means to the club. Nine La Dow: $100 to Rotary Service for the completion of the water project in Colima, Mexico. Randy Katz: $100 to Rotary Service for finishing the San Diego 100 Mile Endurance Run in 21 hours and 21 minutes. Peter Logan: $200 to Rotary Service for his blues band, Catbone, playing its first paid show at Plough & Stars and the other donation for a new driver's license in the family. Announcements: Betsy Koefoed announced a PRLS class will be held on June 23, 2012. Check 5150 website for details. John Mathers announced two LinkedIn workshops at Rotary Means Business on Monday, June 25. The workshops will be held at the San Francisco Tennis Club from 6 - 7:30 PM. Nine La Dow invited club members to attend the Harbor House picnic at Julius Kahn playground on Saturday, June 23, 11 AM - 3 PM. Carol Christie invited club members to the celebration dinner for President Jim Kennedy on Thursday, July 12, at Caesar's Restaurant. She also reminded the club of the Blue Angels cruise coming up in October. Stacey Poole announced the New Member Orientation will be held on Monday, June 18, at 5:30 PM at The Carlisle. Special Award Presentation: Past District Governor Bill Koefoed awarded David Dye and Howard Waits the Cliff Dochterman award for exemplary Scouting and Rotarian activities. Howard Waits's son, Bill Waits, accepted the award on behalf of his family. Speaker of the Day : Dr. Angelo Capozzi, Rotaplast Rotaplast is celebrating 15,000 smiles which have changed lives, 175 missions, and 18 countries in 18 years. Rotarians Dr. Angelo Capozzi and Peter Lagarias presented the Rotaplast accomplishments. Rotaplast is a non-profit which provides medical missions for cleft lip and palate surgeries around the world. Rotaplast provides long-term solutions by funding and mentoring local physicians, launching public education projects, and advancing research. Through collaborative programs throughout the world, Rotaplast efforts expand far beyond surgical intervention and help foster international goodwill, peace and understanding. Join your fellow Rotarians in the Rotaplast celebration and learn how you can participate on a mission team. Robert Kosbie won the Raffle Drawing for "The Biography of Walter Cronkite" book. Loren Lopin is the chair of next week's program with James D'Alessandro, a novelist and screen writer returns with another intriguing story.
