B-Roll Making Competition

Guidelines:

1.) Registration to be done online through D2C. 2.) Participants will be required to shoot, edit, and submit a cinematic B- roll, adhering to the rules provided below.

What is B-roll? If you are not exactly sure what B-roll means, here is a short explanation. According to the classic definition, B-roll includes that accompanies your main story, like the footage you to in the middle of an interview. On YouTube, the definition of B-roll has expanded to include any shot that does not feature you or someone else talking. So, establishing shots, transitions and montages are considered B-roll. In our competition, we follow the broad definition of B-roll

What are we looking for?

1.) Use your B-roll sequence to tell a story. 2.) Try to shoot object that relate to get smooth transition. 3.) Try shooting in creative angles. 4.) Make sure your footage goes well with the music you have chosen.

Rules:

1.) Final B-roll should be 1-1.5 min long. 2.) Use of stock footage is strictly prohibited. Teams can use the sound effects and music with due credits. 3.) Entries must be the original work of the entrant and must not infringe third-party's rights. Plagiarism is strictly prohibited. 4.) Send your entries in the best quality possible. 5.) File format: .mp4, .avi, .mpeg, .mov. 6.) You can participate as an individual or as a team. 7.) The decision of the judges will be final and binding.

Judging criteria:

1.) Use of music and sound effects – Make sure your footage goes well with the track and sound affects you have chosen. 2.) Creativity – Come up with a concept or a way of filming that is interesting and exciting to watch 3.) Stylistic footage – Do not limit yourself to the same few shots, adding variety can make your footage stand out from the crowd 4.) Editing – Make sure you maximise your efforts in post-production. Think about how you edit your footage to the music and how to make the visuals most engaging

Deadline: 2300 HRS 20.04.21

Submission:

1.) Upload all the Raw footage along with the final B-roll in a google drive folder. The link to that folder should be mailed to us at – [email protected]. 2.) The subject of the mail should be “B-ROLL- ” 3.) The mail should also contain your details: Name, college name and contact details of all the team members. 4.) You also have to upload your final entry on your Instagram handle tagging @pfciitd, @rendezvous.iitd and @iamdpc with hashtags #pfciitd #rendezvous #pfc_broll and #delhiphotographyclub.
