Finalists Announced for 2017-18 Sid Watson Award Given to AHCA News from the AMERICAN HOCKEY COACHES ASSOCIATION For immediate release: Tuesday, March 20, 2018 Finalists Announced for 2017-18 Sid Watson Award Given to AHCA Division II-III Men’s Player of the Year Ten players who have distinguished themselves on the ice in 2017-18 have been named finalists for the 2018 Sid Watson Award, given annually to the best NCAA Division II-III men’s ice hockey player in the country. Two of the finalists are repeat honorees from last year: University of New England junior forward Brady Fleurent and UMass Boston senior forward Colin Larkin. Eight of the finalists are from the United States and two are from Canada. Two players come from the same hometown of Williamstown, NJ: Utica College senior forward Roman Ammirato and UMass Dartmouth junior forward Jonathan Ruiz. Sponsored by the American Hockey Coaches Association, the Sid Watson Award honors the memory of former Bowdoin College head coach and athletic director Sid Watson. A three-time AHCA Coach of the Year, Watson served Bowdoin for more than 30 years, winning 326 games in 24 seasons as head coach. The 6-2, 180-pound netminder went 17-5-4 this year with a 1.78 GAA and a save percentage of .941. In 54 career games, he has a remarkable .943 save percentage. "Evan has a tremendous passion and work ethic for the game,” said Hamilton head coach Rob Haberbusch. “He is literally, the first person on the ice for practice and the last to leave. His accomplishments are a result of his constant drive to improve. Evan is equally as tremendous a person and teammate. He is selfless, humble and brings a positive attitude to the rink each day. He keeps constant watch over the morale of the team and especially his fel- low goaltenders." Buitenhuis finished the NESCAC Regular Season first in both GAA (1.47) and SP (.948). As a team, Hamilton finished first in Team Scoring Defense in NESCAC conference play during the 16-17 season (1.56). After an injury riddled freshman year, Buitenhuis was named First Team All-Conference as a sophomore and First Team All-Conference and Conference Player of the Year this current season, his junior year.

    News from the AMERICAN HOCKEY COACHES ASSOCIATION For immediate release: Thursday, March 21, 2019 Geneseo Goaltender Devin McDonald Wins Sid Watson Award As 2019 AHCA Division III Men’s Player of the Year Devin McDonald, a senior goaltender from Geneseo and Calgary, AB, has been chosen by the nation's ice hockey coaches as the 2019 winner of the Sid Watson Award, symbolic of the best NCAA Division III men's ice hockey player. McDonald has compiled a record of 23-1-2 with a miniscule 1.12 goals against average and a .920 save percentage. Behind McDonald's superb goaltending, coach Chris Schultz and the Knights captured the SUNYAC championship with a 4-3 win over Oswego on March 2 and opened NCAA play with an 8-2 win over Manhattanville this past Saturday. Next up is a 3:00 semifinal match-up with Norwich on Friday afternoon in Stevens Point, WI. McDonald has been a factor from his freshman year when he played 25 games and earned Third Team All SUNY recognition, an honor he also received last year as a junior. Entering the NCAA Tournament, his career numbers in 97 games are a 2.05 GAA, a .921 save percentage and a win- loss record of 70-13-13. This year he was named a First Team CCM/AHCA All American. "Devin has established himself over the course of four seasons as one of the best players in college hockey," said Geneseo head coach Chris Schultz. "He has a tremendous passion for the game and has earned himself the reputation of rising to the occasion in the big moments.

The 6-2, 170-pound netminder went 14-5-3 this year with a 1.61 GAA and a save percentage of .940. Murray, a three- time First Team All-American, had comparable career statistics: 62-20-9, 1.69, and .940. He recently signed a professional contract with the San Jose Sharks minor league affiliate. "Jamie has established himself as one of the best players in college hockey as well as one of the greatest individuals in the history of our college during his career," said Babson College head coach Jamie Rice. "It has been an honor to coach such an outstanding, humble and terrific young man. He has often been the difference maker in the games he has played, and he is a player that I am confident Sid Watson would have been proud to coach as well." In addition to his phenomenal on-ice accomplishments, Murray was one of five finalists for the Hockey Humanitarian Award in both his junior and senior years. The "Humanitarian" is presented each year during the NCAA Division I Men's Frozen Four to "college hockey's finest citizen," based on the candidate's body of volunteer work away from ice hockey.

    News from the AMERICAN HOCKEY COACHES ASSOCIATION For immediate release: Friday, March 27, 2020 Tom Aubrun of Norwich Wins Sid Watson Award As 2019-20 AHCA Division III Men’s Player of the Year Tom Aubrun, a senior goaltender from Norwich University and Chamonix, France, has been chosen by the nation's ice hockey coaches as the 2020 winner of the Sid Watson Award, symbolic of the best NCAA Division III men's ice hockey player. Aubrun concluded an outstanding career on a nine-game shutout streak (572:31 minutes), halted only by the cancellation of this year's NCAA Tournament. Aubrun went 23-2-2 for Norwich thisyear, compiling an NCAA best 0.77 goals against average and a .967 save percentage. These number represent NCAA records, as does his 13 shutouts. Through 65 career games, Aubrun went 50-8-5, with a 1.27 GAA and a save percentage of .946. He is a two-time New England Hockey Conference Player of the Year and NEHC Tournament MVP. Said Norwich head coach Cam Ellsworth, “Tom is the foundation of our team. His calming demeanor in the net gives our team a great deal of confidence shift to shift.     News from the AMERICAN HOCKEY COACHES ASSOCIATION For immediate release: Thursday, March 22, 2018 Colin Larkin of UMass Boston Wins Sid Watson Award As 2017-18 AHCA Division III Men’s Player of the Year Colin Larkin, a senior forward from UMass Boston and Waterford, MI, has been chosen by the nation's ice hockey coaches as the 2018 winner of the Sid Watson Award, symbolic of the best NCAA Division III men's ice hockey player. Larkin went 24-22-46 in 27 games this year, finishing his career with a line of 64-84-148 in 111 career games. His point totals went up each season as did his honors. He is now a two-time NEHC Player of the Year, two-time first team CCM All American, and was just named winner of the Joe Concannon Award by the Gridiron Club of Boston as the best American-born Division III player in New England. Over the past four seasons, UMass Boston enjoyed an aggregate record of 74-30-7 (.698). Despite high expectations, and the additional responsibility of being team captain, Colin’s senior season was the best of his four in a UMass Boston jersey. “Everyone has seen what Colin has accomplished on the ice, including being the first UMass Boston player ever to sign an NHL contract (with the Edmonton Oilers),” said UMass Boston heade coach Peter Belisle. “Yet Colin’s character is what truly sets him apart. A young man of integrity, compassion, courage, and leadership who uses his talents to enrich, empower, and encourage others to emulate his example.

    A staple in the New York region and an emerging program on the nationalQuick stage, the Facts Manhattanville and College Athletic Contents Department continues to bolster its reputation as a program on the rise in all areas: athletic achievement, academic success and overall participation. More than 300 Valiant student-athletes (nearly 20 percent of the student body) took part in intercollegiate athletics during the 2009-10 school year showcasing the continued and rapid growth of athletics at Manhattanville. Following the successful integration of the men’s and women’s indoor and outdoor track teams in 2008-09, the program has expanded to 21 intercollegiate teams – including seven new teams that have been established or re-established since 2007 alone. And teams at Manhattanville do not just compete, they win. Seven different programs earned conference regular-season or tournament championships in 2009-10 – a total bettered by only 13 Division III schools – and two Valiant teams (baseball and men’s golf) appeared in the NCAA Tournament. Fifteen of 21 Valiant teams earned berths in their respective conference championships last year, including confer- ence championships for the baseball, men’s golf and men’s hockey pro- grams. Three Manhattanville teams (men’s hockey, women’s hockey and women’s soccer) also received national rankings over the course of the year, the most in a single school year since 2004-05. On an individual level, many Valiant student-athletes were honored in 2009-10 as well. A program-record four Valiants – A.J. Mikkelsen and Mickey Lang (men’s hockey), Katie Little (women’s hockey) and Dan Fiorito (baseball) received All-American accolades, while an incredible six players were named conference Player of the Year.
