Bright and fun with a dash of chaos, the cover concept Ryan came up with is the perfect embodi- ment of the Salt Lake bicycle community. Find more of Ryan’s work at ryanperkins.net. Contributor Limelight: Cody Hudson – Senior Staff Writer Cody started in the SLUG office as an intern five years ago in 2008, when he was 17, downing cans of Red Bull while he responded to prison mail and writing music reviews of indie albums during his spare time. Five years later, Cody still graces us with his wit and writing chops, and has his feature game on lockdown. This month, Cody penned his story on local bicycle light company LED By LITE through his lens as a key list volunteer at the Salt Lake City Bicycle Collective where he helps “homeless people and hipsters get their bikes into working shape.” Cody still loves writing about indie (and, now, hip-rap like A$AP Rocky, Kendrick Lamar and Kid Cudi), and especially loves writing sarcastic, snarky reviews of national albums that are not quite up to par. He is finishing up his degree in Economics at the University of Utah, and currently works at Central Book Exchange, selling used books and sorting out Sugar House weirdoes as he awaits his next internship in either finance or banking. Whatever is in the stars for Cody, we are glad he’s still a rock in SLUG’s salty pond! 4 SaltLakeUnderGround slugmag.com 5 Dear Dickheads, can’t knock at SLUG, even if it was inspired by Dave Grohl— Wow, I’m having a hard time contain- who I still contend wouldn’t ing all my excitement for the movie be famous if he wasn’t in a SOUND CITY… it sheds a bright light band with someone who took on how music should be made… if a major shotgun wound to your catching up, Dave Grohl (Nir- the face.
