True Blood returns to HBO

Miami, July 1st, 2011- HBO Latin America announced the July 10th premiere of the fourth season of the sexy drama series . The plot follows Sookie Stackhouse (Golden Globe Award® winner, ), a waitress with telepathic powers who is half human and half faerie, and the 174-year-old vampire, Bill Compton ().

This season, Sookie and the rest of Bon Temps will confront new dangers prompted by followers of magic and witchcraft. At the conclusion of the third season, the discovery of shocking secrets leads to a fierce persecution of Sookie, as a result of which her true nature is revealed. In the final episode, the plans of evil vampire king Russell Edgington to control the world appear to have been quashed after he is buried alive in a concrete pit. Meanwhile, Eric Northman almost dies at the hands of Bill; yet, upon successfully escaping, Eric tells Sookie the true reason for Bill’s arrival in Bon Temps. Tara Thornton, Sookie’s best friend, flees town looking to recover from all her suffering. Sookie mysteriously disappears into the land of the faeries, leaving many questions to be answered by True Blood’s fourth season.

Returning characters include: Jason Stackhouse (), Sookie’s brother; Sam Merlotte (Sam Trammell), shapeshifter and owner of Merlotte’s; Tara (); Tara’s cousin, Lafayette (); police chief, Andy Bellefleur (Chris Bauer); Eric the vampire (Alexander Skarsgård); and young vampiress Jessica (); Sam’s brother, Tommy Mickens, (Marshall Allman); werewolf Alcide Herveaux (Joe Manganiello); Merlotte’s waitress, Holly (Laura Bowles); Lafayette’s boyfriend, Jesus (Kevin Alejandro); and Nan Flanagan (Jessica Tuck), the vampire community’s spokeswoman. Sookie faces whole new threats this season – as if vampires, werewolves, werepanthers and shapeshifters weren’t already enough.

New to the cast this season is: Janina Gavankar as Luna, a shapeshifter who attracts Sam’s attention; Fiona Shaw (from the Harry Potter saga) as Marnie, a witch with a suspicious agenda posing a threat to vampire rule; Courtney Ford as Portia Bellefleur, Andy’s attorney sister; Vedette Lim as Naomi, Tara’s new friend; Alexandra Breckenridge as Katerina, one of Marnie’s followers; and Gary Cole (from Entourage) as Sookie and Jason’s late grandfather, Earl Stackhouse.

Created by Oscar® and Emmy® Award winner, (creator of HBO’s “Six Feet Under”), the bold and mysterious series returns with performances by Carrie Preston (Arlene Fowler), Todd Lowe (Terry Bellefleur), Jim Parrack (Hoyt Fortenberry), Kristin Bauer Van Straten (Pam), Marshall Allman (Tommy Mickens), Lauren Bowles (Holly), Kevin Alejandro (Jesus Velasquez), Jessica Tuck (Nan Flanagan), Evan Rachel Wood as Sophie Anne (from Mildred Pierce), Lindsay Pulsipher (Crystal), Dale Raoul (Maxine), Allan Hyde (Godric), Adina Porter (Lettie Mae Thornton), among others.

Based on the Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlaine Harris and consisting of 12 episodes, the highly successful HBO series features executive production by its creator, Alan Ball, along with Gregg Fienberg; co-executive producers include Brian Buckner, Mark Hudis, Nancy Oliver, Raelle Tucker and Alexander Woo. Directors include Jeremy Podeswa, Michael Lehmann, , Daniel Minahan, Michael Ruscio and David Petrarca.
