The British team, who were sponsored by Winton 1st = M Burrows Wigston 173 4 Capital Management, were the first to win the event outright since 1986. Mestel and Nunn were in excellent C Vitoux France 208 4 form, taking silver and bronze respectively in the individual 3rd = S Christmas Nelson 163 3½ World Championship, which was won by the highest rated A Rawlinson Drunken Knights 182 3½ competitor, Piotr Murdzia of Poland.
