Hello Raiders! Can you believe that we are already in Week 1 of Fall Quarter? We can, and we are so happy to have you apart of the Raider Family and living with us on- campus. We have some great opportunities that we don't want you to miss out on, so take a scroll and see all that SOU and University Housing have to offer!

Housing Updates Heat: We have received a few questions in regards to the heat in our buildings. Below is a breakdown based on the hall that you live in.

For students living in Shasta/ McLoughlin - Depending on the temperature outside, the system will go to either Heating or Cooling. Students will be able to adjust the temperature in their room within the scope of 68 - 72 degrees.

For students living in Greensprings/ Madrone - In consultation with our Facilities team, we will be looking forward in the weather predictions to help us decide when to turn the heat on. Once the heat is turned on, it will be on and can't be turned off until the spring.

------Texting Service: We have started a texting service to help stay connected with our residents through-out the year. You should have already received a text message from us introducing the system. If you have not, please text us at 541-237-7811 with your name so we can add you into the system.

Roommate Agreements: We believe that roommates and suitemates can have great relationships when there is a mutual understanding of expectations. We will be sending our Roommate and Suitemate Agreements soon so you and your roommates/ suitemates are able to set up expectations for how you all will live together.

Attend an Oregon Shakespeare Festival Show - Between Two Knees Title: "Between Two Knees," (OSF Performance)

Where: Thomas Theatre

Date: Saturday, October 5th, 2019

Price: SOU Student and Student Staff discounted tickets are $5. SOU non-student staff tickets and SOU guests (off-campus) are $17.

If residents would like to purchase a ticket for "Between Two Knees," they can purchase a discounted ticket for $5 from either Courtney Carlson or Ciara Wong from now until Friday (10/4) during the times listed below. Once they pay for your ticket, you will also be asked to sign a liability waiver as it's an Off-Campus Event. We will be accepting cash only. Once students have paid for their ticket during the week of 9/30-10/4, their ticket will then be available for pickup at Thomas Theatre from a Housing staff member the day of the performance, (10/5), 20 minutes prior (7:40 pm) to the time of the performance.

If you'd like to bring a guest and the guest is an off-campus student, the ticket price will be $17. Guests will also need them to sign the liability waiver. Please refer to the times, days, and locations of where and when they'll be able to pay for their ticket this upcoming week (They can either pay for their ticket from Courtney Carlson or Ciara Wong):

Attend an Oregon Shakespeare Festival Show - Hairspray You have the chance to see Hairspray at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival (OSF) this Saturday, October 5th, at 8:00 pm! This event is a great way to experience Ashland, spend time with your peers, and celebrate the end of your first week of classes. OSF has offered us a great price for the tickets, so we can offer them to students for $5.00 per ticket. To purchase a ticket, reserve it online using this form (payment will be collected on Friday morning and afternoon - cash only).

We have a limited number of tickets, so spots are limited to the first 35 sign-ups! Once we reach the maximum number of sign-ups, we will create a waitlist. We will also email the people who successfully reserved a ticket and let them know how to pay for their ticket.

Please note that $5.00 tickets are offered to SOU Students only; if someone off-campus or a full-time staff member would like a ticket, they must pay the full price of $17.00.

Get Involved with Area Council

Area Councils are the voices for the students of their residence halls, and host events to bring their communities together. Students will attend weekly meetings with their council, occasional meetings with their communities, weekly RHA Meetings, and additional meetings as needed.

Attend a Student Leadership Conference

PACURH 2019 Delegate Application

November 8th-10th we will be taking a group of students to the PACURH Leadership Conference at Portland State University. To be eligible to apply, you must be currently living in the residence halls and attending SOU for the entirety of the 2019-2020 academic year.
