TIMING IS EVERYTHING Although the team fell one step shy of an Atlantic Hockey postseason crown and automatic NCAA tournament bid in 2018, RMU has established a reputation for playing its best late. The Colonials have made five consecutive AHA final fours, one year shy of the conference record of six in a row, set by Air Force from 2007-12. ALL GOOD THINGS ... The Colonials’ 18-20-3 record in 2017-18 ended a streak of five straight winning seasons and seven consecutive seasons at .500 or better. From 2010-17, Robert Morris went a collective 52 games over .500, highlighted by a pair of 24-win seasons that also garnered Atlantic Hockey regular- season championships. 412 CREW As has been the case every year since the program’s start in 2004-05, the Colonials will be showing off local hockey talent. Freshman forward Aiden Beck (Coraopolis) joins juniors Luke Lynch (Shaler Township) and Jacob Coleman (Moon Township) on the ‘Burgh-born list. GAME RECOGNIZES GAME Robert Morris was once again well-represented in the preseason polls. Additionally, the Colonials placed three players on the preseason all-AHA second team: Goalie Francis Marotte, winger Alex Tonge and winger Luke Lynch. BYE BYE, BRADY With Brady Ferguson playing in the pros, Robert Morris will have to acclimate to life without their all-time leading scorer. Ferguson contributed 167 points to the Colonials’ cause from 2014-18, passing former teammates Cody Wydo ‘15 (150 points) and Zac Lynch ‘16 (156 points) in the process. Ferguson is also RMU’s all-time best assist man, with 101. The nearest Colonial in that category is ‘11 (91).
