Message from You may be aware that my officers have been working very hard on rural crime offences, Inspector Jon Papworth involving the theft of motor vehicles and burglaries of farm outbuildings, since last year under the operation name of Kingbird. We continue to target those committing rural crime and have recently had success with 3 persons who we have identified as being involved. Two individuals (who we are unable to name at this time) are currently on bail with conditions not to be in until they appear in Court later this month. The lead nominal, John Watson, has, at the 3rd hearing, now received a Criminal Behaviour Order. This Order prohibits him from being on the Splashes Traveller Site, , Not to be in the , Watton and Swaffham Policing areas and not to associate with the two individuals on bail. A lot of work has gone in to obtaining this Order, which Watson contested, from the Magistrates, and it will be closely policed for compliance. Watson has already been found breaching this Order and was immediately arrested and put before the Courts who ordered him to pay a £400 fine. Should anyone see Watson (whose details have been publicised in the local press and on our social media platforms) in the local area, please to report this to police. Our public engagement SNAP meetings have gone well this month. I would like to thank retiring SNAP Chair Jean Bonnick for her service and to welcome Hilary Bushell as the new Dereham SNAP Chair. WhatWhat isis Happeninghappening inIn yourYour areaArea The Dereham Response Officers and Beat Managers have certainly been kept busy at the start of 2019. Your local Beat Managers gave a presentation to Breckland Council on how to spot the signs of County Lines and Cuckooing (drug dealing) and also took the opportunity of meeting lots of the community while our Student Officers had some “on the streets” training exercises in Dereham Town and you may have seen us out in the town with the PCC, Mr Lorne Green. Sgt Woods of our Special Constabulary visited the Grove House Infant School to give some advice on staying safe and community policing—it was very cold but everyone seemed to have fun! The Engagement Officer visited both Beetle and Toftwood Cubs to talk about Stranger-Danger and Road Safety. Response officers assisted the Ambulance Service with an incident where a youth fell 10 feet hurting his back and arm when he tried to jump some railings. Fortunately, we hear that he didn’t suffer any serious injuries. We have also been taking vehicles which are not taxed or being driven reckless off of the road, seizing one vehicle in Tescos car park for breach of its S59 Warning and taking another off of the road for having no insurance. Officers have also arrested a man for breach of his Criminal Behaviour Order, issued to the man last year by Magistrates.

Message from Your Engagement Officer

You may have seen on our Twitter Page (@BrecklandPolice) that our District is fortunate in having 21 Community SpeedWatch (CSW) teams who do a fantastic job of working in partnership with Norfolk Constabulary, to keep our roads safe from those who think it is acceptable to ignore road speed limits. The CSW Initiative is a nationwide organisation, established in 2007 and proven to reduce speed. Our 21 teams are made up of 209 volunteers who each month give up their time to help keep their communities safe. In January they clocked up an amazing 69 hours, recording 475 speeders who will be contacted by Norfolk Constabulary. If you think your area could benefit from a Community SpeedWatch team PC 898 Paula Gilluley then contact me on my email.
