A“We’re opening. We’re happy to be opening. We just don’t know what we’re opening yet,” said Jeff Hanle, Skico vice presi- dent of communications. The amount of terrain that opens will depend on how much snow falls between now and then. “At a minimum, we’ll do Nell and Bell,” Hanle said, referring to the Little Nell chairlift at the base and the old standby Bell Mountain chairlift. If that’s all that opens Nov. 17, Aspen Moun- tain will still offer more vertical feet of skiing than many of the resorts now open in Colorado, according to Hanle. The top of the Bell Mountain chair is at an elevation of about 10,500 feet. The base is at about 7,945 feet. Hanle said the ticket price can’t be set because it’s uncertain how much terrain will open. Ski passes will be able to be used.

  • 2016 and Will Not Have Begun Principal Photography During This Calendar Year
The Black List was compiled from the suggestions of over 250 film executives, each of whom contributed the names of up to ten of her favorite scripts that were written in, or are somehow uniquely associated with, 2016 and will not have begun principal photography during this calendar year. This year, scripts had to receive at least six mentions to be included on the Black List. All reasonable effort has been made to confirm the information contained herein. The Black List apologizes for all misspellings, misattributions, incorrect representation identification, and questionable 2016 affiliations. It has been said many times, but it’s worth repeating: The Black List is not a “best of” list. It is, at best, a “most liked” list. “ The more we’re governed by idiots and have no control over our own destinies, the more we need to tell stories to each other about who we are, why we are, where we come from, and what might be possible. “ ALAN RICKMAN BLOND AMBITION Elyse Hollander In 1980s New York, Madonna struggles to get her first album released while navigating fame, romance, and a music industry that views women as disposal. • Sovereign Futures in Neshnabé Speculative Fiction
borderlands DOI | 10.21307/borderlands-2020-009 Vol 19 | No 2 2020 Sovereign Futures in Neshnabé Speculative Fiction BLAIRE TOPASH-CALDWELL Michigan State University, United States Abstract Film has been the primary way dominant society has consumed inaccurate and problematic symbols, images, and stereotypes of Native peoples for over one hundred years. Indigenous-made films, on the other hand, reclaim Indigenous representational space or ‘visual sovereignty’ through narratives of Indigenous experience that highlight culturally relevant stories and contemporary issues they face. In particular, Indigenous-made speculative fiction inspires contemplations of Indigenous agency in alternative realities. Indigenous futurisms expressed in works of speculative fiction is a rejection of theoretical, institutional, and political projects that imagined Indigenous peoples in the past and excluded them from the future. Through a survey of Neshnabé speculative fiction and other art, this article argues that Indigenous futurisms constitute creative approaches to sovereignty in a multiplicity of potential futures and is an analytical framework that illuminates the ever-expanding contours of Indigenous sovereignty in order to imagine an otherwise to present and past circumstances of Indigenous existence. Keywords: Indigenous Futurisms, Science Fiction, Sovereignty, Traditional Knowledge, Speculative Fiction © 2020 Blaire Topash-Caldwell and borderlands journal. They are shuffling chairs around as they find places to plop their belongings and greet each other with excited smiles and warm hugs.
