PRAYER FOR THE UPCOMING ELECTION
Lord God, as the Presidential election approaches, we seek to better understand the issues and concerns that confront our country, and how the Gospel compels us to respond as faithful citizens in our community.
We ask for eyes that are free from blindness so that we might see each other as brothers and sisters, one and equal in dignity, especially those who are victims of abuse and violence, deceit and poverty.
We ask for ears that will hear the cries of children, unborn and those abandoned, Men and women oppressed because of race or creed, religion or gender.
We ask for minds and hearts that are open to hearing the voice of leaders who will bring us closer to your Kingdom.
We pray for discernment so that we may choose leaders who hear your Word, live your love, and keep the ways of your truth as they follow in the steps of Jesus.
Amen.
MOVIE MATINEE NOVEMBER 17th
Our “Movie Matinee Series” continues in November on Thursday, November 17th at 2:30 pm in the Resurrection Chapel/Multi-Media Centre, 88 Milton Road.
The movie selection is “Pope vs Hitler.” It premiered on the National Geographic channel on September 4, 2016.
In the darkest days of World War II, St. Peter’s Square was shrouded in the shadow of the swastika. But even as the Fuhrer surrounded him, the Pope was plotting a secret counter-offensive.
Wartime Pope Pius XII has been derided for his public silence about the Holocaust. But evidence suggests his silence was a subterfuge. And the man branded as “Hitler’s Pope” actually wanted to stop him.
Mrs. Joanna Moore, a teacher at Resurrection M.S., will introduce the film and conduct a short Q. and A. afterwards. Mrs. Moore holds a M.A. (History) from St. John’s University. The program will run from 2:30pm – 4:15 pm. Refreshments will be served.
All are Welcome. Admission is free.
