Cutter’s- Belleville, IL

Introductions

Approval of June Meeting Minutes: Forgot to do this! Need to approve June minutes when we approve August Minutes at the September meeting!

Updates from the Board

Dan Trapp(Acting President) and Erin Strausbaugh (Secretary)

Current Balance in the bank is $2448.02. Andria gave Dan $164 for purchased merchandise, which will be added to the checking account.

Committee Reports:

-  Group Run Committee (JT Turner)

Dan is going to give JT more fliers to hand out with run/club information.

-  PR Committee (Sarah West)

Working on the September 2016 Belleville Marathon. She asked to have BRC sponsor the race (no financial commitment) so the race will have insurance and so BRC can have some publicity. Dan made a motion to approve the request. All present board members and BRC Club Members voted to approve the motion.

2016 BRC Marathon Potential Volunteers: High School Students, College Students, Boy Scouts, Church Groups, etc.

We need to create/order new car magnets or window clings! Erin is going to look into that.

Special Events Committee (Lisa Zamfir)

The next “Let Them Eat Cake” celebration will be held on Thursday, November 5. Location is TBD.

The September picnic will be on September 12. Location and times are TBD. Lisa is going to post a question on the facebook page to see if people are still interested in a BRC member picnic or if they’d prefer bagels/brunch after a Saturday morning run OR if there is not much interest at all. Only ~20 people attended last year, so she wants to make sure there is a need for the picnic/brunch before planning it. It will most likely be at the same location as last year: South Side Park in Belleville. If we still have a picnic, we may use the Sign-Up Genius website so people can sign up to bring desserts and side dish. BRC or a local sponsor would provide meat/buns.

o  C25K starts 17 August.

Chili Cook-Off Planning has begun. We are hoping to make a vegetarian chili again because it was a huge hit, and because Dan was the acting president, he made a motion to include cornbread on the menu also. Everyone approved the motion, but the final decision will be made based on how many volunteers are able to help out that weekend. Who will make the corn bread? Currently, the committee for the chili cook-off is Costel and Penny. Erin is looking into a sign-up genius website for volunteers to sign up.

Annual Banquet will be held in January. Date and Location are TBD. We may get BRC running socks ordered for the event.

Membership Committee (Andria Powell)

The membership committee is stretched very thin right now, so any help in creating awareness for the group is appreciated!

Would anyone be interested in handing out Gatorade or water and BRC fliers on the Belleville Running Trail sometime? Could be a way to introduce people to the idea of our club.

Kris is working on making business cards with minimal BRC info on them to hand to runners. Cards would include website/facebook page info and possibly weekly run times. (You Printing Website?) If anyone is available to help him, please let he or Andria know!

There are currently 117 paid members with voting rights.

Thinking of hosting a “Bring a Friend” Running night/morning periodically. Anyone who brings a friend gets extra BAM points and there could be light refreshments after the run.

-  Additional Discussion:

George and Christy Belsom fundraiser/blood drive updates:

§  Blood Drive is not yet rescheduled.

§  Sarah proposed doing another type of fundraiser for them. It could be a dinner/dance, volleyball tournament at Silver Creek Saloon, or a more simple, organized fundraiser through a local business or restaurant. TBD.

o  Sponsors:

§  Does anyone know of a bar or restaurant that may be willing to sponsor us on different occasions? It could be a place that we end up going to repeatedly for things (monthly meetings, after Thursday runs, etc.) This place may be willing to sponsor our meat for picnic, too.

Abby Allard- Senior Seminar Marketing Project

§  Abby would like to develop a marketing plan for us (social media plan, fliers, slogan, etc) as her senior seminar class for college. It’s not something we would be forced to use/implement, but she will give us all of the rights to her ideas and hopes it will help us create more awareness and membership for BRC. Her email address is and she seems very enthusiastic about helping the club.
