Date of first School Council Meeting of the year: September 1621, 2015 2016 at 7:00pm

School Council Activities: Rosedale School Association organizes and manages casino funds and collaborates with Rosedale School Parent Council, where suggestions are made to the school administration how those funds could be utilized for the benefit of the students. The following initiatives were organized and/or paid for through the council and association fundraising activities:

  • Rosedale School Council Financial Statements were audited prior and noted to be in order.
  • Council Executive was elected at September 1321, 2016 Annual General Meeting.
  • Annual welcome back to school “Pancake Breakfast” hosted in September with pancakes, sausages and fruit served to over 400 parents, students and teachers.
  • Student Agenda’s ordered for grades K to 6.
  • QSP Fundraiserorganized with an official kick-off in October 2016.
  • School Council helped organize volunteers for Rosedale School’s annual Christmas Hampers (through Heartland Agency) providing gifts for many families. Parents donated gifts, time and money to help provide those families with presents for Christmas.
  • Organized the Spring Plant Fundraiser.Rosedale Society organized the The Outdoor Classroom and installedassociated landscaping.was fFunded by society casino funds with some council funds plus a major fundraiser was highly successful to complete Phase 1. Looks fabulous! Future plant sales to be used to maintain outdoor classroom.
  • Funded Music, Theatre and Art In-residences.
  • Funded upgrades to playground/basketball countscourts.
  • Funded technology improvements, mainly a new projector for presenting in the gym.
  • Funded the annual Grade 9 Graduation Party.
  • “Staff Appreciation Lunch” to thank the teacher’s for all their hard work over thepast year as well as meals for parent teacher interview lunches.
  • Year-end events and sports day.

Initiatives for the 2017/2018 school yearwere discussed at the June 2017 meeting including focused learning opportunities (writing, second language and sciences), an upgrade of computer hardware with the installation of the new wifi service and potential re-development of the library space.
