EMPTY CHAIR – NO MORE! At the January meeting of your Board of Directors, the fifth spot on the Board was filled by the unanimous decision to appointment Diane Holmes. We are anxious to get to work together to contribute to our great community.

LANDSCAPE COMMITTEE OPENING– Now that all the positions on the Board are filled, we would like you to consider volunteering your time to serve on the Landscape Committee. If you are interested, please submit an email to Tina Foust and let her know. Thanks!

POOL SAFETY and CRIMINAL ACTIVITY It has been brought to the Board’s attention that there have been incidents of illegal activity at the pool, which required law enforcement assistance. Just a reminder to homeowners, if you observe any unlawful behavior at the pool/clubhouse area, call the sheriff’s department for assistance. Do not confront or try and stop the activity. Let the professionals handle the matter and stay safe. Thank you.

+PETS AT THE POOLare not allowed. If you observe guests at the pool with their pets, please report this problem to the sheriff’s department, they can enforce the law. WHAT DO RODENTS AND BIRDFEEDERS HAVE IN COMMON? It’s not a good answer. The reason we have more and more rodents in the community is because there are more and more bird feeders showing up in patio areas and the rodents are attracted to the seed that is on the ground and in the feeder. The problem with rodents is getting worse, please consider removing your bird feeders.

WOOD REPLACEMENT– Wood replacement is wrapping up. Costs for wood replacement in preparation for painting were higher than anticipated. Findings: while consistent damage was documented as dry rot, a significant number of units were noted to have extreme termite damage. As noted in the governing documents, termite treatment is the responsibility of the homeowner and we recommend those not receiving treatment thus far begin to preserve their investment and our community. If extensive replacement due to termites is noted in the next replacement cycle, a possible special assessment would be required to cover the repair costs in the community. The Board of Directors appreciates your prompt consideration of this request. If you are receiving regular inspections and treatment, THANK YOU!!

EXTERIOR PAINT– Painting is moving right along! We are about three-quarters of the way through! The Board would like to again, thank everyone for their cooperation through the weather delays.

IRON WORK In our environment where salty air does its fair share of corrosion damage, all iron/metal work should be powder coated at fabrication, before it is painted. This prohibits rusting. If you experience a constant rusting condition, this may be why. Buying a new gate that isn’t powder coated also won’t last in our sea air. For a new gate or to have patio fencing fabricated correctly with powder coating and to MV specifications, call Cesar Ramos – (714) 329-1293. Cesar has now completed a lot of fencing and gates at very fair price for Mariners Village. He is aware of our architectural requirements and does nice work! Any work you contract Cesar to do as an iron work contractor is between yourselves and in no way benefits any Board member. If you want to see his completed work, check out the fencing and gate at the rear patio of 33042 Lighthouse.
