New Doctors Join
Abbey View Medical Centre
You will be aware that our clinical team have been working hard to cope following the departure of Drs John Myles and Malaika Hilhorst in September last year. We are really pleased to announce that we have been joined by two new doctors: Dr Simon Smith, who is working full time at Abbey View and Dr Phil Tomlinson who will divide his time between Abbey View and Sturminster Newton surgeries. We extend our warmest welcome to them.
As enhanced salaried GPs Dr Smith and Tomlinson will take on the administrative responsibilities for their own patient lists and have been assigned patients. This is purely a mandatory administrative action process to ensure that each patient has a named GP who is ultimately responsible for that patient's clinical administration. The surgery does not run either a personal patient list or a pooled system. In reality each patient is welcome to see any of our clinical team and will have a usual clinician whom they see routinely. This affects several thousands of our patients listed in the table below:

We have not written to every patient involved as we believe that the hundreds of pounds in postage and administrative costs would be better spent on continuing to deliver a quality primary care to our patients.
