TODAY’S OBJECTIVES: Students will examine how the author’s purpose affects his/her use of language and choice of form

AGENDA: 1. Complete warmup #27 on the following quote from Herbert Spenser: “There is a principle which…cannot fail to keep a man in everlasting ignorance – that principle is contempt prior to investigation.” What does this quote mean to you? Have you ever practiced “contempt prior to investigation?” Are you sorry that you did? (If you still don’t know what the quote means, here’s a musical clue….) 2. In Collections workbook, please close read pp. 65- 70, “Bonding Over a Mascot,” answer questions 2-8, and complete short response. 3. Over the next few days, we will finish delving deeper into typical stereotypes and how to eliminate those stereotypes. Today we will start with Muslims. Take notes as you are watching this film clip, as you can use this film as a source in your upcoming essay.
