Half Yearly Meeting

Business Arising

RK - our Treasurer indicated he will produce a detailed report at the October AGM but listed outgoing payments such as burnout grants, 2000 dollars to Marmion Primany School for Jack the Wagtail and the final payment to the Leewin which totalled 12100 dollars. RW also informed the committee Rotary and the UFU had contributed to this but FESA have yet payed the promised 1000 dollars.

Action : RK is to follow this up with Fesa

The final cheque has also been sent to Rob and Janet Reid’s son who will be a tradesman by next January.

Leanne Liddington also was sent 1000 dollars for each of her and Todd’s three children.

The Brown family of Kalgoorlie was sent 1000 dollars for each of her two children.

HK -spoke of improving the transaction reports and streamlining the payment process and indicated that he new of some Firefightersfamilys that will require some form of funding in the near future such as the donation of 2000 dollars given to the Nicolay family due to our friends deteriorating state.

The committee then spoke about the flexibility of the fund.

At the time of the meeting the fund has 34928 dollars in the main account and 16800 dollars in a fixed term account.

CF- acknowledged how good it is that the funds current focus is on the membership and is content with the funds financial position.

RW will present the burnout grant tally with the Treasurer’s report at the October AGM.

SM-spoke about the UFU website upgrade but suggested that the improvements wont be happening soon so the fund will need to wait before we can make changes and improvements to the funds section on the UFUWA website.

CF- ACTIONwill E mail SM the current information required on the website.

SM spoke about presenting a knowledge session to the Firefighters enrolled within the Station Officer development training to assist them on how to initiate the funds burnout grants.ACTION SM to speak to SODT course coordinators about giving the fund some time for this information to be disseminated.

CF- Spoke about following up with Donna Morgon and Julie Duxbury about attending the next meeting or seeking their desire to become committee members which had been discussed in the previous minutes of the October 2011 AGM.

CF- confirmed letters of thanks had been sent and received to Stuart Wade, Russell Perring and Rotary.

CF- Presented a pictorial gift from Marmion Primary School on behalf of Jack the Wagtail. It was suggested that this framed pictorial is to be placed in theFesa welfare office.

CF passed the floor to KM

KM - informed the committee that he represented the fund at a meeting with PHH today re: Burns camp, He confirmed some admin changers within the PMH Burns camp organising structure.

He discussed improving ways of interaction with the children eg the Leewin adventure.

KM- has contacted Cobb Ham Airlines to potentially assist in doing a children’s mystery flight within WA and discussed the logistics involved, Albany was suggested due to its proximity to Perth and its cooler climate in January when the flight has been mooted to happen.

It was reported the available aircraft could carry up to 100 passengers but 30 children of various ages would be targeted.

ACTION-KM is required to E mail the committee to canvas help and support in organising such a event .Also must appoint a point of contact at Albany Career Fire and Rescue Station to assist in this organisation Nick Goodlift Andy Spear, Greg Marshall and GerraintMaddison’s names were suggested.

KM- informed the committee that Fiona Wood is No longer involved with the Mc Comb Foundation and has her own known as Fiona Wood Foundation.

He also asked if the North Regional office could be sent a letter of thanks for the kind dotation of H2O re Jack the Wagtail beach day.

ACTION CF to present a letter of thanks to FESA north regional office, with a scan of the Jack the Wagtail pictorial.

GENERAL BUSINESS

CF- spoke about having key personnel aligned with the welfare department.

SM spoke about the welfare department are seen as separate to the fund eg not getting absorbed into either the UFUWA or FESA and that it belongs to them the membership.

BS- asked about future advertising or a way of pushing/presenting the fund.

RW- suggested the fund places a yearly advert within the 24/7 and or Turnout with a outline of the years achievements.

SM- briefed the committee on the welfare services available thru UFUWA and how some people didn’t access or like getting welfare services from FESA .

He also spoke how the UFUWA welfare had assisted personnel at or within the Garden Island and Pearce Air base Fire Stations.

CF-spoke about a approximate date for the AGM will be October but will E mail the committee around in the not too distant future.

ACTION The president to E mail the AGM date to all committee members as required.
