REGULAR MEETING

NOVEMBER 25, 2014

The members of City Council will be held on Tuesday, November 25, 2014, at 6:30 p.m., at the Community Center, located at 783 “C” Marlin, the corner of Neptune and Marlin, Bayou Vista, Texas, 77563.

A quorum of the City Council was present and included the following:

Mayor: Daniel Konyha Present

Position 1: Charles Goolsby Present

Position 2: Mark Johnstone Excused Absence

Position 3: Bill Spillar Present

Position 4: Ken Davis Present

Position 5: Vaun Henry Present

Note: Dick Gregg, Legal Counsel, was also present.

1. Call Meeting To Order

The Mayor called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.

2. First Order of Business

A. Announcement by the Mayor of the presence of a quorum that the meeting had been duly called, and the notice of the meeting had been posted in the manner prescribed by law.

3. Roll Call

Roll call was taken.

4. Pledge of Allegiance

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mayor Konyha.

5. Citizen’s Comments on Agenda Items Only

No citizen’s comments were made.

6. CONSENT AGENDA: All of the following items on the Consent Agenda are considered

to be routine by the City Council and will be enacted in one motion. There will not be separate discussion of these items unless a Council Member requests.

A.  Approval of the Minutes of:

·  Regular Meeting of October 28, 2014.

A motion was made by Alderman Vaun Henry to approve the Minutes of the Regular Meeting of October 28, 2014, as written

The motion was seconded by Alderman Charles Goolsby.

Motion carried all in favor.

7. SPECIAL REPORTS AND PRESENTATIONS

A. Special Presentation to the FEMA Firm Map Appeal Committee; Tami Inman, Penny Salter, Sam Gipson, and Bill Cleek.

The Mayor presented Certificates of Appreciation to the members of the FEMA Firm Map Appeal Committee, expressing his sincere gratitude for all of the work that they did and the impact that their time and dedication has and will have on the citizens of Bayou Vista now and in the future.

B. City Departmental Reports

·  Police Department activity report for the month of October 2014.

·  Municipal Court activity report for the month of October 2014.

·  Building Permit activity report for the month of October 2014.

·  Code Enforcement activity report for the month of October 2014.

The City Council reviewed the reports and Ken Davis had a few questions for the Police Chief regarding a residence with and unsecured pool. Discussion ensued.

C. Discuss and review the Financial Statement ending October, 2014.

The City Council reviewed the Financial Statement as presented. The Mayor noted an error on a line item regarding the Elevator Inspection. Discussion ensued.

D. Special Reports by Councilmen.

There were no Special Reports by Councilmen.

8. ACTION ITEMS

A. Consider and take possible action to cancel the December Regular Meeting because of the Holidays.

Alderman Ken Davis made a motion to cancel the December Regular Meeting because of the Holidays.

Alderman Bill Spillar seconded the motion.

Motion carried with all in favor.

·  Mayor’s Comments

1.  Possibility of purchasing flat-screen TV for installation at Community Center.

The Mayor discussed the possibility of buying a TV for the Community Center. Discussion ensued. Former Alderman Gay Reeves stated that at the Old Community Center there was a TV that was enjoyed by the citizens and felt that it would bring in more people to rent the Community Center. Ken Davis was appointed to look further into options and pricing.

10. ADJOURNMENT

A motion was made by Alderman Ken Davis, seconded by Alderman Bill Spillar, duly put and unanimously carried, the City Council adjourned at 6:56 p.m.
