Instructions (unauthorised) for Voltcraft (plus) Energy Monitor 3000

Step 1. Set Power Tariff (cost of operating an appliance e.g. fridge)

a.  You will find the power tariff on your power bill in cents per unit (kWh)

[e.g. We use Country Energy who charge 11.335 cents per unit]

b. Press the MODE button repeatedly until you see a display headed with the words TOTAL COST

c. Press and hold the TARIFF SET button for longer than 4 seconds. The numbers next to the words TAR 1 will blink

d. Use the MODE button to advance the numbers and enter your cents per unit after the point. Use the Forecast button to move to the left (e.g. 0.113)

e. Press the TARIFF SET button to confirm values

Step 2. To display supply voltage(V), load current (A), and frequency (Hz)

a.  Plug the monitor into a power socket to display V, A and Hz. It is normal for these values to fluctuate slightly.

b.  Plug an appliance into the monitor and press the MODE button to see active power (W), apparent power (VA), and cos phi

Step 3. To record total power use for always on appliances (e.g. Refrigerator)

a.  Press the MODE button until you see the display of

the words RECh (Recoding hours) Onh (hours recorded) and % (percentage of a 24 hour day recorded)

b.  Hold down the MIN/MAX CLEAR button to reset values to zero (the default setting of 24 hours will be displayed after reset)

c.  After recording, the total cost (per day) and the kWh used will be displayed. Press the MODE button to display the actual and % recording time then press again for COST/wk (cost per week) and kWh/wk.

d.  Press FORECAST for monthly and yearly figures
