The Gift on Behalf of Others.
(Will run on Thursday/Friday, 12/20 and 12/21)
Are you looking for some last minute gift ideas? Can’t decide what to give someone who has everything?
Hi, I’m Adam Hamilton, Senior Pastor of the Church of the Resurrection
A friend recently gave me a great Christmas gift – a share of a sheep that was donated to a family in a third world country. I recently gave a gift to a friend of 10 meals provided in his honor to those who are homeless in a shelter here in Kansas City.
If you’re looking for a great gift to give someone who has everything, consider giving a gift in their honor to someone who has nothing. A gift of $10, $20 or $50 to area agencies that work with low income people can make a difference, and be a great way to let your friends and family know that you care about them, and you care about others.
If you’d like help finding a way to give this kind of gift, check out our website at www.cor.org where you can find links to area agencies and suggestions and opportunities for how you can work directly with them to give gifts that really will make a difference. / Saturday, 12/22 Spot.
Are you working, traveling or busy with family on Christmas Eve night? If so, we’re offering Candlelight Christmas Eve services just for you.
Hi, I’m Adam Hamilton, Senior Pastor at the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection.
This year we’re offering Candlelight Services on December 22nd and 23rd for all who work, or will be out of town on December 24th. Join us tonight at 5:00 p.m. as we share in a traditional Candlelight Christmas Eve Service. We’ll be singing Christmas Carols, enjoying great music, reading the story of the very first Christmas as found in the Bible, and, of course, we’ll end the service with the passing of the candlelight as we sing Silent Night.

Have you got plans this evening?
Hi, I’m Adam Hamilton, Senior Pastor of the Church of the Resurrection.
If you don’t yet have plans to attend a Christmas Eve Candlelight service, I’d like to invite you to join us for one hour – one hour that will take you back to Bethlehem, to the birth of a child who would bring peace on earth and goodwill to all people. One hour that will help you remember what Christmas is really all about. One hour that may be one of the highlights of your entire Christmas.
We have six services to choose from. Our 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. services are geared towards families with young children. Our 5:00 p.m. service includes our chamber singers and our 7:00 and 9:00 p.m. services feature our choir and orchestra. And, my personal favorite, the 11:00 p.m. service, is a favorite among families with youth and young adults.
Join us this evening as we remember the “good news which is great joy to all the people…” Join us for Candlelight Christmas Eve at the Church of the Resurrection. For more information, check out our website at www.cor.org.
Christmas Tree
Here’s a Christmas question…see if you know the answer: What country originated the Christmas tree? I’ll give you a hint: O tannenbaum, O tannenbaum . Hi, I’m Adam Hamilton, Senior Pastor at The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection. Tannenbaum is German for fir tree. So, if you guessed Germany, you’re right! The first Christmas tree is thought to have appeared in 1570, in a small town in Germany. The little tree was placed in the town hall and decorated with fruit, nuts and other sweets. On Christmas day, the town’s children gathered to collect the treats off of the tree and the Christmas tree was born. The ornaments on our family’s tree are not meant to be eaten, instead, they represent important moment in our lives or special people and many represent our faith. Take a few quiet moments tonight, look at the ornaments on your tree and what they mean to you and maybe as you do hum a line or two of O Tannenbaum.
(Lady’s voice) If you don’t have a church home, we invite you to celebrate with us at The Church of the Resurrection’s candlelight Christmas Eve. Join us in Leawood, Olathe, Downtown or Blue Springs. For service times and locations, visit our website at WWW dot C-O-R dot O-R-G.
