Due to popular demand, Jack Stocken and Lorna Heaton are delighted to host a weekend break to Windsor, Berkshire.

The Grade II listed 4* Windsor Castle Hotel enjoys a prime location in this supremely Royaltyconscious and delightful town, ideally situated opposite the main gates of WindsorCastle and its grounds. The hotel’s “Eighteen” Restaurant has Two AA Rosette Awards for its excellent cuisine.

The Bridge standard is friendly Intermediate and nopartner needed. The Bridge Programme and holiday administration will be run by Jack Stocken and Jack will teach Andrew’s lessons and excellent set hands. Lorna Heaton will co-host this weekend break. Facilities: Restaurant: The hotel offers the critically acclaimed Eighteen restaurant which has Two AA Rosettes and serves English and International cuisine. The chef uses seasonal produce sourced from the regions best suppliers and the meals are complimented by a list of fine wines. Enjoy cocktails in Bar@18.

Lounge: The Pennington Lounge is ideal for relaxing and enjoying afternoontea.

Rooms: All rooms are double (or twin) and have been recently refurbished in a traditional style and have en-suite bathrooms. They are well appointed and include air-conditioning, satellite TV with DVD player, broadband internet access and mini-bar. Please book early as all rooms are limited and subject to availability.

Classic rooms: Description of room above. These are larger and lighter than the standard rooms in the main hotel. They are located in the annexe, accessed directly through the main hotel (nooutside walk) and are the same price as the Standard rooms.

Standard rooms: Description of room above. These are situated in the main hotel via lift access. These are situated at the rear of the hotel and are smaller than the Classic rooms in the annexe.

Deluxe rooms: Main part of Hotel, decorated and furnished in a contemporary style but respectful of period features within the room, high ceilings, original fire places and cornicing, floor to ceiling windows, larger bedrooms, overlooking High Street and turrets of Windsor Castle.

Junior Suite: As Deluxe room, but with lounge area within the bedroom.

Bridge Room: ARBC has exclusive use of The Balmoral Suite for our Bridgesessions. The Balmoral Suite is one of their larger function rooms at the hotel. It has natural daylight and a private bar area. The suite was newly refurbished at the end of 2010.

Bridge: The Bridge standard is friendly Intermediate and nopartner needed. Andrew Robson’s teaching material and excellent set hands are used. Please note that these weekends are not suitable for Bridge players who are used to a serious 24Board Duplicate. The emphasis is on instruction with a little gentle competition played in the friendly, social manner that so typifies the ethos of the Club.

Sunday lunch: Most people don’t stay for Sunday lunch but if you would like to, please book directly with the hotel in advance on 01753 851 577 and settle with the hotel on departure.

Sightseeing Tour Bus: The City Sightseeing open top double-decker bus tour of Windsor & Eton is the most convenient, fun and interesting way to explore this wonderful area. The circular tour route lasts for 45 minutes with English commentary, although tickets are valid for 24 hours allowing visitors to get on and off the bus at the 11 hop-on-hop-off stops that are of interest along the route.

Bookings: £75 per person non-refundable deposit is required on booking, and the full balance for the holiday is payable eight weeks beforehand. All bookings will be treated on a “first come first served” basis. All clients are responsible for taking out their own holiday insurance policies.

Cancellation: Once the balance has been paid, it is non-refundable.


Travel: By train: From London, take the train from Waterloo to Windsor and Eton Riverside. This takes 55 minutes, trains leave every half an hour and is a direct service (you can also take a train from Paddington but this involves a change with First Great Western). From London: Take the M4 out of London. Leave the M4 at Junction 6, then at the roundabout take the 1st exit onto the A355, signposted Windsor. Continue onto the A332 and at the roundabout take the 1st exit onto Clarence Road, signposted Town Centre. Continue onto Victoria Street and at the traffic lights, turn left onto Sheet Street (B3022) – this leads you onto the High Street where you will see the hotel. Car Parking at rear and is on a first come, first served basis Journey time approx 45 minutes by car from the Bridge Club.
