Coach’s Report.

The game began with Stannies dominating play with strong runs from many players including Angus Ellsmore, Joel Harper, Tristen Pedersen, Charlie New and others. The game plan of scoring a try through the forwards in the first ten minutes of the game paid off with Joel Harper going over the line and this was converted by Jack Delmenico. Bryce Glover was voted best on field by the players.

Such a good start put in play what this team have been waiting for all season; strong consistent individual efforts that combined to make a team effort resulting in effective team play. This positive play continued; culminating in another try by Charlie New, the half time score being 12- 0 to Stannies.

Throughout the game excellent performances resulted in an exciting game; Quentin Flick,

David Lyne, Pat Browne and Alex Jewell all displayed good hands and defended well. Bill Davis once again displayed excellent skill in ball handling and his signature side step. Adam Lindsay proved to be a sound fullback; and I thank him for his willingness to step up to take this position. In the second half Oscar Cooke displayed excellent defensive skills when the pressure was on. In the forwards Tom McIntosh, Luke Hughes, Tasman Kuhn, Hamish McKinnon and Conner Hayes ran all day ensuring excellent commitment to the breakdown.

Unfortunately at half time Kinross put on a recognisable 14A player which caused some excitement and shouting, and a try to Kinross, and some more shouting. Kinross did remove the A player and shouting ceased. But the damage was done; this side had found their legs but this incident had eroded their confidence and Kinross went into score twice. Stannies managed a try putting Hugh Malligan over the line to level the scores to 17 - 17. This back line play was part of the game plan too – once the boys had established confidence they were to get the ball out to the backs and this pattern of play was ensured by the fast hands if Kurt Waterford, Jack Delmenico and Bill Davis.

In the last five minutes of the game it looked as though Stannies could score and then Kinross regained possession and nearly went over the line; such see-sawing action was exciting to watch. The game ended with Kinross five metres out from their line and the score even. With the final whistle the emotional ride of an excellent performance by the Stannies 14Bs left the players and spectators proud of this team who played fairly and with total commitment.
