VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT: Minister of Music

St. James is a growing, country parish established in 1881 in the heart of the town of Louisa. The 10:00 A.M. Sunday service is lead musically by our minister of music and a small ensemble choir. St. James is seeking a quarter-time minister of music to work alongside and under the supervision of the Rector, beginning in November of 2015. Position Description: GOAL: Working alongside the rector, staff, and laity of the church, the minister of music is called to nourish and strengthen the faith of our members through the sharing and cultivation of praise to God through music. OBJECTIVES: (more details will be shared upon request and prior to the interview)

1. Provide music to enhance the worship of St. James and prepare volunteers and resources to support the weekly topics of prayer and scriptural study.

2. Explore musical outlets to incorporate in worship and empower lay leadership to share their talents with the congregation.

3. Provide leadership and an encouraging presence for the members of the church at services and during a weekly choir rehearsal. OUR INSTRUMENTS: Our organ was installed in 1995 having been designed, built, and installed by Grooms & Payne, Llt. The organ consists of seven ranks, 6 stops, and 451 pipes with circuits prepared for two additional stops/ranks. We also have a Yamaha piano and members of the church who love to accompany and share their musical gifts with the parish on violin, cello, guitar, etc. CONTACT: Please direct all questions or interest to the Rev. COMPENSATION: This is a quarter-time position with a salary commensurate with experience, education and the salaries for similar positions in other churches in our area and AGO guidelines ($13000-15500). A travel stipend is available as well as continuing education credit, vacation time off, and maternity leave.
