Tournament Regulations

1.Player’s Etiquette: Players are expected to be properly dressed for competitive tennis.Indoor tennis shoes with non-marking soles and a pair of outdoor shoes will be necessary.A player not having the correct equipment may be at risk of not being able to compete. Good sportsmanship and fair play is to be expected. Unsportsmanlike conduct such a bad language, hand gestures, or abuse of materiel will not be tolerated, and may result in a team’s disqualification.

2.Check-in: Players are requested to consult their posted playing times, and be available and ready to play a minimum of 15 minutes before their scheduled match. Please check in with the tournament referee 15 minutes before your scheduled match!

3.Match Format: All matches will be doubles. The start of each match should be decided by spinning a player’s racket. A five minute warm-up will be strictly enforced. An 8 game ‘Pro Set’ format will be used, with a tie-break at 7-7. All players are required to report to the tournament desk after each match to return the balls, and report the scores! The official rules for the tournament will be those of the Swiss Tennis Association.

4.Refereeing: Matches will be refereed by the players themselves.

The following rules will apply:

a)Each team is responsible for making calls on their side. In the event of a disputed call, the team disputing the call may ask for a ‘let’ to be played. The final decision, however, rests with the team who made the call.

b)If a team indicates that it’s not sure whether a ball is in or not, then the ball will be considered in, and the point will be awarded to the opposing team.

c)Coaches are requested not to coach their team during games, but may communicate with players during game change over - only. Coaches must not offer their opinion to players as to the score or the decision of a point. Only coaches will be allowed on the court with the players during the match.

d)The tournament referee may be called to settle any further disputes.

5.Food and drink: Teams are invited to make their own arrangements for meals and refreshments during the day. There will be sandwiches, snacks and drinks available for purchase during the tournament. No food or drink (except water) will be allowed on court.

6. Awards: Medals will be awarded to the top three pairs in each division, and a trophy will go to the winners of each division.
