TIPO DESCRIZIONE THE Organization DETTAGLIO Development No Borders- (DNB) is Egyptian youth NGO has been established in 2003 aiming at building youth capacities and develop their community. From the early beginning DNB has worked in 3 different type of activities to develop the community: 1) Charity and Social program (aiming to envolve youth in their community) 2) Informative and culture through training centre and non-formal education 3) Dialogue and international cooperation (EVS, Youth in Action, international campagins) DNB is a Member Association of the Egyptian Federation for Youth Associations, Youth for Exchange and Understanding (YEU) in the Euromed Region, partner in the Peacebag partnership and the organizer of the evaluation phase in Alexandria 2010. It is also a member of the Egyptian netwok of Anna Lindah Foundation for Culture Understanding and Dialogue. Now DNB has 3 branches, 2 in Cairo and 1 in Alexandria. They both work with the vision of Youth Capable to Change.

Role and Tasks of the volunteer(s): During his/her voluntary service the volunteer(s) will mainly support the implementation of 2 already running programmes in the organization. 1) Effective participation and active citizenship program (EGYPT- Online): This program aims at mainstreaming the culture of peace including but not limited to – Diversity, interreligious dialogue, active citizenship, political awareness, conflict management, human rights, etc. through an interactive online platform and implementing series of workshops/activities and interactive training courses in public schools, training and cultural centres, etc. The volunteer will be support the coordinators of the project to facilitate the workshops and moderate the online platform and promote the idea through social media and other channels.

2)Youth Development Centre(YDC): the centre aims at building capacities of youth to match work needs in Egypt, providing training courses (including communication skills, computer and technical courses, language classes, human resources diplomas, etc). The centre is mainly based on volunteers trainers; instructors and sessions are usually very cheap or free for Egyptians and residents. Volunteer(s) will suppot the programme coordinator in organizing and promoting for all activities, events and related aspects of the Training Centre. More specifically their tasks will be as following:  Managing and updating the website of the training centre  Communication and marketing the new classes/ sessions via the centre channels (Facebook, Twitter, etc.)  Facilitating organizing language classes in their mother tongue.  Support in the preparation of the centre’s programme and schedule.

Volunteer(s) expected behaviour: 1) It is expected from the EVS volunteer to show commitment, be proactive and to be active in the tasks he will be involved in, respecting the mission and “rules” of the hosting organization. 2) As well it is expected that the EVS volunteer will be open and available to the intercultural exchange, which is a fundamental part of the EVS activity, and will respect the regulations of the organization. 3) The EVS volunteer has the responsibility to inform the hosting and sending organization about any health problems or other kind of special situation that could influence the EVS activity. 4) The volunteer is expected to follow as well the “Rights and responsibilities of EVS volunteers” expressed in the EVS Guide. 5) Writing the final report from the volunteer’s point of view 6) Handing in and Sending back (after his EVS) all original travel tickets to the Hosting/sending organisation

Food:

DNB will provide Food for the volunteer(s) during their EVS services in Cairo, during working days lunch/ dinner will be available in the Training centre, Breakfast material will always be available in the volunteer’s flat (volunteer’s preferences will be assured), food allowance will be given to volunteer(s) 300 Egyptian pounds per month.

Accommodation:

The volunteer(s) will live in a shared flat in Cairo, sharing the same flat with other volunteers from other countries /or hosting families. He/she will have an individual room, The flat will be fully furnished and equipped with kitchen, microwave, fridge and bathroom. Volunteer(s) has to bring personal stuff, such as towels, bed sheets or any necessary stuff. Smoking may be prohibited in the flat (up to discussion with the flatmates/ family).

Transportation:

DNB office will be in a walkable distance from the volunteer’s accommodation, however DNB will reimburse transportation tickets up to 30 euros per month

Language opportunity (Language Course):

The volunteer(s) will be given the opportunity to participate in Arabic course when the financial budget permits it (As long as the volunteer is not participating in an official language course, he will receive language classes 3-4 hours a week from an Egyptian volunteer). These language classes will be provided 4-5 months at the beginning of his/her stay. Later on the volunteer(s) can still take language classes, but they will not be discounted from his working hours because in the second half of his stay, the focus is on his professional development rather than on the linguistically.
