Purposeof theJob:

To support thedelivery ofaBIGLotteryfunded ActiveSchoolNeighbourhood(ASN) projectand Newcastle Cycle City Ambition DIY Streets projectwiththeaimofworkingwithschoolsandtheircommunitiestoestablishbarriersto activetravelandinresponse,redesignthelocalstreetsandneighbourhoodto createsafer,moreattractiveandsociableneighbourhoods.

Thedesignswill beinnovativeandpushtheboundariesofconventionalstreetlayouts.

PlaceintheOrganisation:

ThepostholderwillreporttotheNetworkManagerandworkcloselywiththeActiveSchoolNeighbourhood Senior Project Officer and Co-ordinatorandthecentralcommunities' team.

KeyResponsibilities(notinrankingorder):

  1. To work with the Senior Project Officer (SPO)to delivertheBIGLotteryfundedActiveSchoolNeighbourhoods (ASN)projecttoaddresslocaltrafficandtransportconcernsinNewcastleby proactivelyengaginginthedesignanddeliveryofacommunityleddesign process.
  2. Toactasakeycontactfortheparticipatingschoolsandtofoster,promoteanddevelopsuccessfulrelationshipswithresidentsandother communitystakeholders.
  3. Tosupport thedevelopmentofstreetre-designproposals.
  4. ToworkwiththeCommunities'teamtodevelopappropriatematerialstofacilitatecommunityinputintothedesignprocess.
  5. Tosupport the designanddelivercommunityengagementactivitiesandevents, suchasconsultationsevents,streetparties,roadclosuresetc.
  6. TosupporttheNetworkManager,Programme Manager, SmarterChoices and the Senior Project Officer, ASNinthe developmentofnewprojectopportunities.
  7. Tosupportthe Senior Project Officer, ASNintheevaluationandreportingonprojectoutcomes
  8. Toworkwiththe Senior Project Officer, ASNtosupportthe generationofpositivemediabaseduponASNworkinNewcastle
  9. Toworkinaccordancewiththearrangementsdescribedinthe organisation'shealthandsafetymanagementsystemincludinganyprojector departmentspecificrequirements
  10. Toundertakeanyotherdutiesappropriatetothegrade,thepostand capabilitiesofthepostholderasdirectedbythelinemanager.

WorkingConditions:

ThepostwillbebasedattheNewcastleoffice,withsometraveltoSustrans headofficeinBristol.Therewillalsobesometravelrequired,includingregular visitstotheprojectareapotentiallywithsomeovernightsawayfromhome. Duetothenatureoftherolesomeworkoutsidenormalofficehourswillbe required.
