JOB DESCRIPTION

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I am a 19 year old man with a severe learning & physical disability who lives with my parents in the Pontypridd area of Rhondda Cynon Taff.

I’m a friendly young man who enjoys attending Day Centre during the week and when I’m at home I enjoy watching some TV but most of all I like to go around the house in my walker.

My disability does cause problems with my communication and development skills.

This means I need assistance with getting about, personal care, feeding at mealtimes and communicating my needs.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

My parents are looking to employ a personal assistant to take me to Day Centre and provide me with support whilst there.

This will involve driving me to the Day Centre on a Wednesday and then assisting me whilst there in different sessions that are carried out, working alongside the professional staff.

I will need help with my feeding (my food is pre-prepared) and also require assistance with taking a drink. Some personal care may also be required, mostly around changing clothes and toileting.

HOURS OF WORK

Wednesday 8:15am – 4:45pm

(7.5 hours per week)

RATES OF PAY

£8.00 per hour

Plus Mileage Allowance (if applicable)

·  Driving me in your vehicle to the Day Centre

·  Supporting me to participate in Day Centre activities

·  Helping with my personal needs i.e. Feeding and toileting

·  Helping me to change

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

ABOUT THE JOB

The post will be subject to a trial period and a DBS Disclosure (Police Check) being carried out. The cost of this check will be met by the employer.
