Dear Member
Proposal to end Darlington Borough Council funding for GOLD from 1.4.15
As you will be aware, the Council’s Medium Term Financial Plan budget saving proposal in 2012, identified a requirement to ‘Review support and consultation with older adults’. This included a requirement to review GOLD and other support for older people to target the work more closely, develop community and social networks in a more streamlined way.
Since then, work has taken place with GOLD members to look at the way forward. The preferred option of the Project Group looking at this was to transfer the activities of GOLD to another provider. Discussions are ongoing with one organisation, which would like to continue the work of GOLD, subject to being able to secure suitable funding.
However, if this is not possible, GOLD will end on 31st March 2015, when the Darlington Borough Council funding ends.
When the Council is looking at changing or developing services, it needs to make sure that consideration has been given to whether the proposed changes will have an unequal impact on any particular groups. To make sure the proposals for change have been looked at comprehensively, it is important to ask the people who may be affected, whether the proposals are likely to have a positive or negative impact on them.
Darlington Borough Council is undertaking an Equality Impact Assessment on proposals to end Darlington Borough Council funding for GOLD.
As a GOLD member, please tell us what the positive and negative effects of these proposed changes would be for you by completing the Equality Impact Assessment Form attached and sending back to Lisa Holdsworth no later than Friday 26th September 2014 using the Freepost address below:
