President’s Message

By David Woodcroft

As President of the Canadian Carwash Association, I’m pleased to welcome readers to the CCA newsletter Wash Word. For the past four years, we have been publishing our newsletter in JuneWarren’s publication Octane. With the sale on March 3, 2004, of CARWACS (Canadian Automobile Refuelling, Washing and C-Store Show) and Octane magazine by JuneWarren Publications Ltd to Fulcrum Publications Inc., our newsletter will now appear in every issue Your Convenience Manager.

I want to acknowledge and thank JuneWarren and, in particular, President Colin Eicher for their support and commitment to strengthening relationships and growth in the carwash industry. Their desire to see the CARWACS trade show continue to grow within the broader industry is very much appreciated. The Association is looking forward to a very fruitful relationship with the new owners of the show and Octane.

During our annual general meeting held April 6th in Toronto, the 2004-2005 Board of Directors was elected. Carwash operators appointed to the Board include Bill Barber, Mississauga Kar Kare Centres, Mississauga; Saul Barth, Gas-up Car Wash, Guelph; Vito Consentino, Wash ‘N’ Go, Markham; Mike Luciani, Stouffville Auto Wash, Newmarket; Steve Newman, Shiny Time CarWash Inc., Toronto; Nicolas Partsalidis, Hwy 10 Coin-Op Carwash, Brampton; Karen Smith, Columbia Shell, Waterloo; and myself representing Wasaga Riverside Carwash, Wasaga Beach. Suppliers elected to the Board are Murray Ewing, Transchem, Inc. Cambridge; Brad Goetz, Mondo Products Co. Ltd, Ajax; Ed Graney, SSI Vehicle Wash Systems, Mississauga; Brad Laurier, MacNeil Wash Systems Ltd. Barrie; Steve Makins, Ecolab Ltd., Mississauga; John Rutter AVW Sales and Service Inc. Mississauga; Nancy Schmautz, TD Industries, Calgary.

We hope you enjoy reading Wash Word. We welcome feedback and ideas on how the Canadian Carwash Association can serve the needs of the industry.
