Presenting the official partnership between Pessl Instruments and Huawei to develop of NB-IoT for end-to-end applications in agriculture

[Bologna, Italy, November 9th, 2016] – Pessl Instruments and Huawei are developing new end-to-end solutions to mitigate farming risks linked to natural disaster and extreme weather creating a smarter and more profitable farming worldwide.

What is NB-IoT? Narrow-band Internet of Things (NB-IoT) solutions will be available from mid-2017 using a new 3GPP standard to connect remote weather stations, soil moistures sensors and many other devices with the Internet. NB-IoT uses an ultra low, cost effective power chip, with a long range reach which can connect almost every corner of the world with the Internet reusing the commercial mobile network. The farmers will get wide connectivity to their own fields for timely application of plant protection products, when spreading fertilizers, seeding and ploughing, when harvesting and in many other activities. Huawei and Pessl Instruments will showcase this technology for the first time at EIMA, the International Agricultural and Gardening Machinery Exhibition, which will be held in Bologna from November 9 to 13 (Hall 22 – Stand A25).
