PRAYER OF THE FAITHFUL - September 2nd & 3rd

Presider:

God’s message of love is burning within our hearts, and so we pray for all in our world who are in need… as we cry out, Lord hear our prayer...

Lector:

1.  For our Church as we witness to the power of our faith to make a difference in the world …

For our national leaders, that they learn humility and gracious- ness in dealing with others, especially those who are different …

For courage and steadfastness in holding to our gospel values whenever they are challenged …

For the safety and security of all those who are suffering as a result of Hurricane Harvey…for all those who make sacrifices to help these victims: the first responders risking their lives as well as everyday heroes… For the protection and safety of all those who are still in danger or missing …

and for all who seek the comfort of God’s healing word; and for the intentions in our parish book ...We pray.

2. For our brothers and sisters who are ill:

Lucia Rodriguez, Virginia Hodges, Fr. Glaco Torres, Carmen Rodriguez, Melvin Reyes, Owen Martin, Pamela V. White, Augustine Waters, Thomas Grega, Jow Baltz, Regan Friedmann, Cleo DeNoia, Amelia Silvestro, William Florian, Amelia Jalandoni, Mary Sullivan, Laura Moore Brown, Marguerite LaMarque, Bob Cerf, John Palazza and all those wounded in the service of our country, that they be patient in their time of suffering and soon come to the fullness of health.... we pray....

Those tragically killed by Hurricane Harvey as well as those who lost their lives through violence across our nation …and all the victims of war and terrorism (PAUSE) that they may rest forever in the embrace of the one true God, we pray....

4. And let us pause now to present our own personal petitions...(PAUSE ....count to 10)...... We are still a nation at war, let us pray for our president, and all our elected officials, the members of our diplomatic corps (core) and all those who serve our country in our uniformed services..... may their efforts for peace and justice be fruitful;..... together, let us raise our voices in a prayer for true and lasting peace......
