Participant´s protocol on a PT 25/8 Proficiency Test

Object of PT 25/8 Determination of Si, Fe, Cu, Mn, Mg, Zn, Ni, Cr, Pb, Sn, Ti in aluminium alloy (Si < 13%, Fe <%, Cu <%, Mn <0.6%, Mg < 0.5%, Zn <%, Ni < 0.05%, Cr < 0.06%, Pb < 0.1%, Sn < 0.05%, Ti < 0.06%) by Atomic Emission and X-Ray Fluorescence spectrometries on a plane of solid sample. The validated wet–way methods may be used.

An integral part of this PT 25/8 protocol are methodical instructions with possible participant ´s comments and tabulated results. The results will be processed under a code number only so the participant´s identity may not be disclosed. The protocol PT 25/8 and PT programme (including time schedule) is also available online for download at our homepage: http://www.spl-bohumin.cz/eng/proficiency_testing.htm

Please send the filled-out form (as Microsoft Word file) as attachment to our e-mail: [email protected] The title page of the protocol, however, should be the signed (and stamped) and scanned and attached to the same e-mail, preferably in PDF format.

It is not necessary for our purposes to receive the originals in print by mail, the electronic version suffices. We also hope to save you effort and expanses in this way.

Methodical instructions for PT 25/8 participants Prior to analysis of a PT 25/8 sample please the calibration should be validated by the regular procedure as per the laboratory Q. A. instructions.

Please identity a main or prevailing RM used for the calibration:

List the elements, for which a correction was applied:

Instruction to the analysis

The results of five paralel determinations fill in the table analysis results*. The number of digits should agree with that given in the approximate values below. The determinations should be done by one operator in the consecution. *If more than one technique is applied (AES and RFS, AES and wet-way analysis), please give the particular sets of results in separe copies of the protocol. Each participant will be assigned his code number for each method applied. The same principle may be used for stable and mobile instrument.

Participant´s comments

Please mention below any PT 25/8 participant´s comments concerning conditions that may have affected the analysis results.
