I. Qualifications

A. Female of good moral character.

B. Resident of Coweta County for at least one year prior to application.

C. Potential graduate of Heritage, Newnan High, East Coweta, or Northgate.

D. Scholastic achievement (based on standards of college entrance).

E. Financial need.

F. Community Service Involvement

G. Extracurricular Involvement (both through available high school programs and outside of high school programs)

II. Scholarship

A. Amount to be determined at time of award distribution.

B. Any accredited post-secondary school of choice.

C. Check will be written to the recipient’s school in her name.

D. In the event the recipient withdraws from school before the scholarship is expended, the balance will revert to the Junior League.

III. Procedure

A. Complete application in its entirety (all applications and essays should be completed by the student only).

B. Submit a recent picture.

C. Students will print off and submit a copy of their FAFSA confirmation page, showing the student’s EFC (Expected Family Contribution) based on completion of the FAFSA.

D. Include official preliminary academic high school transcript (completed by your counselor and must submitted to NJSL in sealed envelope from school).

E. Copy of official SAT or ACT test scores (photocopy of student’s score report is acceptable)

F. Provide 2 Letters of Reference. Choose from teachers, counselor, minister, employer, etc. (This letter should speak to the student’s academic ability and the involvement in community service and extracurricular activities.)

G. Complete items A through E, and return to the Guidance Counselor by the date listed below.

H. If any of the above are not submitted, the application will NOT be considered.

I. Possible interview with applicants or counselor may be requested if the scholarship committee feels is necessary.
