DIRECTIONS: Working in groups of 3 or 4, create a “facebook profile” about your president. We may possibly present a short skit on some of the major topics from your president’s term.
A. TEAM “facebook profile” poster board must include:
1. A picture or sketch of your president.
2. Background history, information, and facts. (5-8 facts).
3. A timeline of key events or decisions made during this president’s term (see focus list provided; include both foreign and domestic issues). Be sure to clarify these events and possibly what led up to them. Use the textbook reading, research, vocabulary, and review handout as a guiding source. (5-8 events).
4. Two political cartoons: 1 supporting or opposing a domestic issue and 1 supporting or opposing foreign policy issue. Be sure your audience understands your intent.
5. Description of and analysis of a related primary source document. (see reference section of textbook).
B. INDIVIDUALS: must contribute to team profile and complete one choice item.
6. Each member will contribute one choice item: A blog, poem, letter, journal entry, speech or creative element that might have been written to, presented to, or relating to, or about your president. Each individual element should be ½-1pg in length.
GRADING RUBRIC:
6- Exceptional Presidential Profile and Individual elements (45-50 points) Above and beyond, far exceeds expectations; shows planning, thought, and fantastic effort; written information is superior and comprehensive; extras added; thorough and historically appropriate information included to show in-depth understanding; format is original, clever, unique, eye-catching; overall impression is exemplary.
5– Strong Presidential Profile and Individual elements (40-44) Is still above expectation; shows planning, thought and effort; written information is very good and clear; extras may be included, thorough and appropriate information, format is creative, colorful, unusual; overall impression reflects very good effort.
4– Capable Presidential Profile and Individual elements (35-39) Meets all expectations. Written information is adequate; format is somewhat typical, may have less eye appeal; overall impression reflects collective effort.
3– Developing Presidential Profile and Individual elements (30-34) Meets most expectations; depth of knowledge is limited; may be missing elements; information is somewhat brief and not clear; format is common; overall impression may seem somewhat careless or show little collective effort.
2– Limited Presidential Profile and Individual element (25-29) Meets some expectations; depth of knowledge is limited; missing several elements; historical inaccuracies; limited research; the overall impression is poor, careless & messy.
1– “Emergent” Presidential Profile and Individual elements - Points will not be given. Assignment does not even meet the criteria listed in “2” or no individual assignment was completed.
